Stereo & Electronics - power help ?????

okay im completely stumped on this one......ill be either driving or sitting listening to my stereo when it just stops working...nothing everything turns off, for example if i have my driver door open it will stop the door ajar beeping along with the stereo and the power locks wont work.....but if i hit the power lock switch it will kick back on...and sometimes will stay on....when im driving or have the engine running the windows wont work either....im sure its the same way when its not on but i havent tried that yet....has any body had this problem???? i tried the search and didnt find anything

I haven't looked, but is everything that goes off on the same circuit? Same fuse? If not, you could probably narrow your search by going battery side of the fuse block. Next time this happens, I would go straight to the fuse block, yank some fuses and see if there is juice going into the block.

It sounds like a problem with the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM controls all the things you mentioned - windows, stereo, audible chimes, and door locks. It has a circuit that "goes to sleep" after a period of time but is reactivated by the key fob or the door lock switches. This is intended for when the car has been shut off but it sounds like it's happening even when the car is running.

well apparently there are two bcms one in the passenger side under the dash and one under the seat....so which is it ?

There is only one BCM in 4th generation f-bodies. It is mounted under the right side of the dash. The box under the driver's seat is merely the power seat cushion air control module.
