CDT M6 is another consideration - probably one of the better/best? as far as SVC.
TA though.....you're going to want the eD eu700s without any doubt, IMO since they are the only quality DVC replacement I know of that works best for Pontiac versions of the Monsoon system.

I'll second that. If you're keeping the Monsoon amp in a Firebird, the EU700 (now called the 7Kv.2) wires in just like stock, only requires a little spacer work to compensate for the greater mounting depth, and sounds much better than stock.

I have only used the 7Kv.2 and the CDT Audio M6 so that's all I will compare, but the M6 DESTROYED the 7Kv.2 in terms of midbass and total output in -my- setup.

what ones do i buy the 4ohm or the 2ohmFor the ED 7Kv.2 you want the dual voice coil 4-ohm model. That will be the same configuration as the stock sail panel speakers.

What kind of spacer would I need? I am going to order these and would just like to know what I am getting into. Also is there a easy fix for the light in the stock head unit as mine went out?

Here is a thread about installing the ED subs. It is based on Camaro so your Firebird wiring will be a little different (4 wires, 4 terminals instead of combining the connections).

There have been numerous threads about the HU lights. A little searching should turn up plenty of information about replacing with LEDs, etc.

I know a guy who is selling a set of JL audio 6W0's if anybody is interested... (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=751358)
You will need a spacer for the mounting depth just like the ED ones though.

If you need a pair of CDT M-6's I can get you those for $220.00 shipped NIB. Normally they are $249.00. They are however SVC 4ohm like the JL's so that needs to be considered. They do not require any spacers or metal cutting though.

Have you considered MB Quarts? That's what I have in my sail panels and they sound awesome.

I now have the Bazooka replacement DVC subwoofers as well that are perfect for your application if your just looking to replace the sail panels. These wire exactly like stock utilizing both voice coils optimizing output of the stock Monsoon amp.

do these need washers to make them fit or is it a direct drop in. do the speakers holes line up with the cars or would i be drilling new ones to make teh bazookas work. these are sum of teh first DVC speakers i have found actually

From what I've been learning, these need a spacer and the holes don't line up, but otherwise the wiring is just like factory. That's the most important part. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Elemental Designs & JL Audio are both very respectable brands!

The eD subs require a spacer but the Bazooka subs don't.

Personally i was disappointed in my ed's. And ive had nothing but good experiences with elemental designs. Ive bought tons of things from them but then again my factory system was all jacked up when i bout it. I think the wirings screwed. They cut in and out all the time and have almost no output to them. My friends factory monsoon sounds better. Im gonna amp em soon anyways. Im sure that will fix the output problem.:D

WHen I first got them in (the Bazookas) I measured a known speaker and the stock sail panels sub for depth and the Bazooka was much deeper, about 3/4". So I sold them with a spacer to compensate as it looked to be necessary. However after installation by several people who purchased them it was noted they fit without the 1/2" spacer.
The holes do not line up so a self tap screw or drilling new holes for the screws is necessary. Wiring is the same as stock, bass output is much better than the stock ones.

These bazooka speakers are good upgrade from the stock speakers. Very easy to install as well. If you not looking for too much bass and direct replacements, this is my pick.

FYI, as long as the speaker depth is 3.125" or less you should have no clearance issues.
Also, sound deaden inside the sail panels for best results.
I voted EDs, but CDTs would be my first choice!

If you MUST use sail panel speakers, IMO, Peerless SLS with your own amp.

What do I need to make a SVC 4ohm work with the stock T/A monsoon amp?

Did you run the M6 on the stock amp? Im concerned the stock amp won't be able to drive them well with their 150 rms capability.

I love my ed 6.5 DVC. They are on the stock amp now and sound good. I made a spacer out of 3/8 plywood and it fit fine but I had sound dampner 45mm also.
especially for the price.
