LS4 Front-Drives 2005-2010 - Wednesday May 30th

going to go to Union Grove for a baseline before I swap rockers. Probably be there by 6pm and gone by 9pm. If anyone wants to meet up, I will be driving the dirtiest, most bug covered, white-ish '06 Impy SS with Illinois plates in the known Universe. (poor car gets driven on construction sites on an almost daily basis). The worst part is I am going to officially have the slowest LS4 on the planet as I race like I run on the street, full weight, full tire pressure (40PSI-ouch!) and a trunk full of heavy and mostly useless stuff. My tremendously tubby self does not help either.

On my poor LT1, got the intake off yesterday, looks pretty good underneath for barely being on the good side of a quarter million miles, no real sludge, no bent rods, looks good. Of course, that means my clanking is most likely a broken rod instead of a bent pushrod/collapsed lifter. Appears that I have a passenger side cat-con totally clogged and the rod broke before anything else. Went from a neck-snapping downshift and forward jump (as it was designed to do) to a very, very sad clanking and refusal to move beyond a wobbly idle in 15 seconds. Don't have the space to pull the motor and refuse to spend three times what the car is worth to have it pulled for me....decisions, decisions...

if you mean a good dose of the Cap't Morgan, than the odds are fair that I will be, indeed, packing a bottle. I would be happy with a 14.4 with full tire pressure
