This is actually my vette, its a pretty funny story, if you read the threads to lead to this, the guy called me out at like 3am?? Its a 640rwhp mustang cobra with a whipple VS my C6 505rwhp/441lbtq. The guy was making BS excuses about his belt slipping...but anyways....

heres is footage from my car, (thats my idiot friend yelling lol) the 2nd run, (i just got the car back) it was a 40 punch, and i went from 1st, so i was slipping, then i reel him in..

Lol thats hilarious. they always have a excuse dont they...i raced a mustang once and beat him horribly. he said his cluth was slipping but when i seen him shift gears in the mirror it sure didnt look like anything was slipping...good kill always nice to put a mustang in their place especially one that talks that much shit.

Some of those Ford guys don't understand the power capability of the LSX Engines, especially when there are stroked up.
Some of them Cobras can move too though. I know a guy with a '04 with a 2.5l Kenny Bell on it, he is coming close to low 10's with that thing..

I don't dought that the cobra makes over 600 hp and I don't dought that the reason he lost was due to the belt slipping. Bottom line is that he lost though. You should NEVER talk shit when your car is not 100%. Sounds to me like the two of you had a good bit of beef with each other before this race? If I wanted to beat someone that bad I know my car would have to be top notch before I called him out.

How i got that 640 number, is the day we raced he was at hpp in texas getting tuned, i went up there a few days after, and there tuner told me it made 640, but no big deal, the guy pmed me wanting to run again, which i said no, but if you ever catch me at a local meet ill run you again, saw him last week at rice killer.com GTG, he told me for us to run, ide have to take off my bottle??? :judge: what bottle?? :gtfo: watch the streetfire.net video again, and turn up the sound right after the first run "thats cars not 505!!!!" guy is screaming it, the second run i think he says somthing about a bottle.Its funny, after we ran, i pulled over for everyone, popped my hood, and showed i was all motor, i guess thats where the belt slippage excuse came from...

With 640rwhp, the Cobra would....ok SHOULD trap 130-135mph. Now a C6 with 500+ should also trap about 130-135mph (stock Z06 is 125-127 w/ 450rwhp) so this race should be alot closer so maybe the loudmouth did have an issue, who knows... but I would race him again if he asked.

My experience...in my car...is that it takes roughly 50-60rwhp more to
pull on a Corvette from a roll. Going from a dig is all about suspension &
hook so that's pretty much dependent upon each individual car. As
a whole, I tend to agree with you. Weight, aerodynamics, etc all play
a role.

transfer, cooling, HP:weight ratio, stout clutch, etc.
A Cobra making 600rwhp with the "right" mods runs 10.50's @ 134mph.
A Cobra with "power" mods runs 11.50's @ 128-130mph.
I think we know which cars we're seeing getting beat. :nod:

Exactly..That car could be a Dyno Queen.. and that's about it. 600's to the ground is over 700 Engine..but if he can't grab it right, it won't do anything.
Also, IMO the LSX Engines are alot more efficient with the power for some reason, they just put out what they have stronger. Probably the design.. just my .02..:)

Very true. Unfortunately, that is about to be the story of my car.
If I could afford H/C, wheels and tires, rear-end, and suspension all at once, then I would do it. Unfortunately, my poor college ass could afford only one right now, and I chose H/C.

The stock IRS suspension in the cobra's is horrible for drag racing. I made 400 rwhp and beat 3 cobra's that made over 500 because of the suspension. My car ran 7.8s in the 1/8th. A friend of mine owned one of them and swaped a straight axle in it. He made 525 rwhp and couldn't run but a 8.3 with the IRS. After the swap he went a 7.4. The wheel hop was horrible with the IRS. He just kept breaking half shafts. A vette seems to do pretty good with there IRS though. Another friend of mine had a 01 with a cam, exhaust, tune and a set of draglites with slicks out back and skinnies up front. It was just plain nasty. He didn't have a third gear at all and still went a 7.5 going from second to fourth!

One of the guys put M/T drag radials on his and broke a half shaft on the first pass. I just resized my sig pic but it still looks too big. hmm.

Well, the guy that broke the half shaft did end up running some 1.5s 60s but he still had problems with the shafts breaking. The day he put the dr's on he broke the entire rear end out of it. He spent 3000 dollars on a setup that is supposed to handle the power. He broke the plate that goes from the bottom of the car that the chunk bolts to in half. After he replaced all that he broke the half shaft and finally got it straighted out with different axles. The buddy of mine that put the straight axle in broke a half shaft when it was still IRS on the third pass with dr's. I'm sure it may be possible on a bone stock suspension but I've never seen it.

My experience...in my car...is that it takes roughly 50-60rwhp more to
pull on a Corvette from a roll. Going from a dig is all about suspension &
hook so that's pretty much dependent upon each individual car. As
a whole, I tend to agree with you. Weight, aerodynamics, etc all play
a role.
Regarding the OP, no idea why he got banned...it wasn't by me.
I hear you dude. I only base these on what the cobra owners tell me that they make..."x" amount of power....versus my known power output,..which I have no reason to fudge up or down.
I know, as you do, driver error takes into effect with this shit.

The answer is very straight-forward in my eyes. 600rwhp on a dyno is
great. Putting 600rwhp to the ground is a another story. There is a lot
involved in getting a chassis to work properly. It's fairly "easy" to make
600rwhp in a Cobra and most that put thousands into their Cobra put
it into making power and they completely overlook suspension, weight
transfer, cooling, HP:weight ratio, stout clutch, etc.

power to weight is a huge factor i can tell you that from drivin my heavy ass stang but power to weight wont make up 140rwhp,the vette won and he desearved to after dude called him out.but lets say the vette weighs 3200 and has 500 rwhp thats 6.4lbs php, and the cobra weighs 3600 with 640rwhp thats 5.6lbs php so power to weight doesent come into play for the vette in this race. either way congrats good kill

thats is what I was thinking, yes there is power to weight but that 140 rwhp...either way good kill and the douche deserved it....

Maybe, Maybe not.
I agree that 140whp is alot to make up, but where talking about the C6 Z06 here, the pinnicale of Corvette engineering.
Its not just hp, but superior tuning, gearing, aerodynamics, etc...
Advances in technology has made the new C6 a monster, not all out HP.
The new C6 Z06 has a 100-200 mph ability that is just amazing.

I'm not too far off and I'm running 93 octane.
I wouldn't run a twin screw on 93 oct. that makes 640rwhp that's alot of cyl. pressure on a 4.6L, now if was a turbo I would.

You're out of your mind if you think a Cobra on TWENTY INCH RIMS, with TWO passengers weighs in at 3600lbs....How about 4000lbs or so? The vette would be around 3500 + or - with the two dudes.

i don't wanna seem like a jerk but those cobras do have some belt slipping problems some time. my brother has a cobra.. same thing. your car is so loud that you cant hear if he is truely slipping. the whinning supercharger sound should stay at the same sound for a while if he is having belt problems
