Anyone ever see an all forged sbc from the factory? I've heard GM made them, but wondering what they came in. Any ideas?

How far back do you want to go? FYI: All early 327's (small journal) had forged cranks. Higher performance versions had forged pistons. There are more examples....

SLP did for the last year of firehawks for the 3rd gen I think 92 were all forged 350s. They were made to compete with the ZR1 vette. Made some really good power to but they are almost impossible to find and if you do they are big $$$$$ cars

I'm talking any sbc ever made. Looking for a stout bottom end to throw heads and a cam on and spray the world at.

If you're looking for a bottom end, just buy aftermarket. Just think about it, would you rather have 1960's quality parts that have been used and abused for 40 years, or new?

Maybe aftermarket rods and pistons but with a gm steel crank? I've seen those combos make good power.

It will still be just as easy, and wont cost that much more to just buy the eagle or scat crank and be done with it. Believe me, it will be worth it in the long run.

As cheap as Eagle and Scat 4340 cranks are, they should be used over a forged GM crank. You can even get a Lunati Sledgehammer or Callies Compstar 4340's for $700.

I had a forged GM .010" under crank crack in half on me in 97. Luckily it was at low rpm and it stayed in place and only took out the bearings. This was a solid lifter, AFR headed 355. The aftermarket cranks are sonic tested and X rayed for cracks such as what happened to mine.
