Can anyone do one of those desktop dynos on my specs?? Im curious as to what the beast makes. i didnt have the resources to get the motor dynoed.
the comp is around 12.7 :1 with the 119cc head.. but not sure what the headgasket thickness played... its on straight 110 octane now.. if anyone could figure up something or have knowledge of ball park figure itd be appreciated

Anybody want some LS1 parts?

hahah as i posted in my vid for the locals my old LS parts funded over half the swap :)
LS is in high demand old skool is more affordable. alot of our braging rights comes from how much invested and what you put down.

i was torn between staying ls or doing the swap. LS i was facing to need a built trans.. 3k.... heads... new yank verter for n20... hell ive almost hit my BBC total already ;)

I only drove the car to drag stri anyway!! its only got 36k miles

jet changes and mixture adjustments must be fun to do on the sec. bowl. you would be nuts to go with a shorter gear. you've got torque now, use it. how do you like the A1000. i am going with that and a similiar fuel line config. with a return line on the ole pontiac.

i guess you can forget about sneaking up on someone in that. :judge:

Sandmann120

That's kind of where I am at. I have some power goals in mind, and for the money, its kind of hard to beat a big block. I already have a built TH400, and a very nice BBC, and lots of LS1 parts that I could sell. I just need a rear-end and lots of suspension work.

smokin2002
06-18-2007, 06:12 PM
o yea i really hope my jets back there just so happen to work good hahah if not you gotta pull carb.. with trim off its open and come right off.. nah she aint exactly a sleeper anymore :) i have a front bowel leak so i havent quite got an acurate pressure reading.. the pump is a lot bigger than you think.. kinda hard to mount it under the floor. other than that seems to be good to me. a lil noisy but like i say its big

i only say smaller gear because its still got 26'' tall MTs hahaha on a 3 speed she might be singing past the 1000' ill atleast squeeze a 28'' under before swaping gears. id like to see some parachute mphs with it.
the way it sits i think its just gonna want to drag the bumper or blow the tires/

yep that was 2nd detirmed factor suspension.. it was a cam only ls1 with a full suspension cutting 1.5 60's, obviously it would have been more nice to the f-bodys to find a v6 car and start.. but damn hard to pass up when you got a nice clean built body ready and a 454 in the shed

How much did you clearance? I was at one time hoping to keep my wipers. Some classes around here require them. I know it's not going to be very easy to do. Whose motor plates did you use?

Sandmann120
06-18-2007, 06:24 PM
I would trade in a sec if I could find a clean v6 bird. Better lines anyway, in my opinion. That's the other side of why I have been waiting to do something like this. Don't want to cut up a nice car.

smokin2002

Madman pre cut plates from thunder. and i cut the metal out under the cowl and back about 1/2'' from glass. had to beat firewall back for headers.

Very nice swap man. I have a '95 Z28 that I am getting ready to put a BBC in this fall. Well, begin to work on anyways LOL. Did you keep the stock K member with the motor plates?

smokin2002
06-26-2007, 04:50 AM
BMR tubular, i beleive someone on here did there swap with the original k. either way the motor plates wont be effected by k member choice. plates go on last, they are made to fit the way youve mounted your motor. make sure trans is fully bolted up 2 with the crossmember. that messes with the geometry more than youll think.

My bro has a recently freshened Up better than stock 1970 LT1 big block that has been sitting in a garage for years. From what he said, Its output was close to 600 horse at the crank, but with boat loads of torque. If my 93Z28 becomes emissions exempt soon, I think there may be a permanent grin on my face :)

Sounds like a monster. Does it always start to die when you hit the brakes hard? If so you may want to check your float levels. If they arent too high, you may want to raise your idle speed a bit. I cant remember reading what brakes you have, but if you have power brakes, it would really suck for them to go out when you need them the most. Just my .02. Car looks great, this motivates me to start on a big block.

nope just like you said my idle was waaayyy to low hahahaha and brakes are all original from gm in 2002 the car only has 30k miles on it. :drive: im actualy suprised how well they work for the cams duration. i have no reserve can or anything aftermarket there either.. original booster setup to the carb.. Its made for some good debates between freinds why i did all that work and you didnt... hahaha i just tell em theres a sand trap at the end hahahahaha its on my mind i just really havent got to test them up to speed yet they dont hold the car still on the street at all burning tires so thats good grounds right there for me to go better

 hahaha may be a lil while for any new "good" updates hahahaha A guy im cool with came by to check it out We more less planed a good comparable grudge race and woul dhave made me a good coming out show. 03 mustang gt with a 460. were on same page so were open with shareing car deatils. i was gonna start it for him and motor spun over once and locked up queezed back thru carb.. i got a breaker bar spun it over about ten times easily.. tried starting it again same thing.. locked and queezed. drained oil.. no metal.. i pulled valve covers and perfect... i did see that the BS screen kit i put in the valley was mia.. so i figurged it got sucked up in cam. i pulled the motor yest. and tore it down today. i found screens intact hid behind the dist shaft. droped pan.. nothing bent broke or damaged,,,, pulled heads.. no bent valves.. im lost hahahahahaha  the only thing ive noticed was coolant was getting into 2 cyls {{was leary of the MLS gaskets!!!}} there slight discolorations but the bores are still smooth as silk and the motor spins very freely no binding what soever!!!! Im kind of at a stump.. dont want to reseal and find have same problem....

my best educated guess was last time i ran it was joy ride.. maybe if enough coolant had accumalated in some cylinders could this have played with the combustion causing a detonation to come off as locking up?????? lost......

JUICED96Z

Water in the chlinders is BAD. Water DOES NOT compress. Make sure you don't have a cracked block or head and that the head gaskets are sealing.

With an electric water pump it will not pump water just by you turning the engine over allowing you to turn it over by hand. When you start it up again it would be then. Id say the problem is in that leak.

ZONES89RS
08-21-2007, 01:57 AM

smokin2002
08-21-2007, 04:16 PM
yea im going to choose to just go ahead and reseal it and fab up something to trap about 20psi or so in the water jacket and see if it bleeds down. if bleeds down ill tear it down completely and go to a machine shop and weigh some options... I found nothing wrong with any of the componenets just the discolred bores.. cant feel any inperfections. smooth as silk. well see what happens!!
maybe a week or so..

I have cometic mls gaskets also :eyes: My builder "lightly" shaved my brand new afr (out of the box) heads. He said the surfaces need to be near perfect for a good seal with them. So far so good with about 10 passes on the motor, but I was also a little leary about the gaskets. He recomended them for my combo due to cr and the fact that I plan to dump 300 to 400 shot n2o. Good luck getting her back up and running, were anxious to see some track times on that baby :D

JUICED96Z
08-22-2007, 04:36 AM
Take it all to a machine shop before you put it all back together and a good one.

A Supra buddy of mine has had his engine pulled and torn apart like 3 times now because he did not do it right the first time. Now he is after a bent crank, overheaded cams and oil starved engine that trashed all of the bearings and the 71mm Turbo.

Have it all looked and and have them check the deck and the deck on the heads and for cracks.

Hey all, My first time back on this site in almost 2 months!!!!! I got the intake sealed up with cometic gaskets and its all back in the car, I also went with regular fel pro headgaskets with copper rings.. no MLS this time. I was low on fuel last time i took it out b4 i tore it down so when i bumped the pump today i had just nuff to fill bowls. it fired right off but died. i went out and got paint for the hood today and ill probaly get some cam 2 and run it tomm. Its near same setup.. just added a trans blanket which made trans dipstick a royal PITA i wound up throwing it across the lawn b4 i got it thru in the right spot with out binding up. 5 point harness. i picked up a 12 point cage conversion but my motavation for that hit a wall.. maybe over winter.. oh and inland is building a 3 1/2" driveshaft with 1350s as of monday.. ill more or less have to wait for the driveshaft to come in b4 another drive.. it had a 1330 yoke b4 and last week i put a 1350 on the rear. My homemade dshaft was ofcourse the smaller 1330 yoke... so im back to running it but no drive. I have one track run in mind b4 are local track closes. wish my terd luck becasue my original goal was this years opening day :emb:

I beat it on it enuff b4 to be confident in a track pass. i just need that driveshaft and take it to go get allighned due to new k-member and its on. as of now the front tires are traking funny and wearing hard doesnt like holding WOT long either hahaha its quick to get loose in the ass end. walks down the crown in the road. i half to straddle center line to keep it straight wot 50mphplus or so

Have fun paying for the CAM2 with the MPG.

I get 7MPG ish on the expensive stuff with my foot out of it haha. Cost me about .75-$1.00 a mile to drive it but ohh is it fun.........

I mix it with Sunoco 94 for cruising.

Ok im back, I guess this update should be called "winter blues

I did attempt some VHT on the street.. and B4 anyone watches vid ill be 1st to say I AM NOT proud!! The VHT didnt setup for crap on cold pavement.. road was 38* might as well dumped crisco on the road. instead of putting your foot down and it sticking.. it slid!! with linelock I couldnt even get it to sit still to heat tires.. it wanted to walk right down the crown in the road and was on limiter as soon as tires broke... with no shoulder you gotta let right out. after 2 attempts to sit still i gave up quick!:barf: I just let it leave off the brake at 3k rpm just for kicks.. needless to say.. my freind took his LS powerd maro and and gave it a try.. he draged his out through the pad compared to me trying to sit still.. either way yeilded poor results.. hahaha his was like spinning on a sheet of ice till he got off the pad where spinning on dry pavement could actualy smoke the tires.. If we get a warmer day ill try and trailor it to a better more secluded road and torch The VHT to the pavement and prep alot better traffic on my road is unpredectable. I didnt want any cars flying up a road on fire!! :D

anyway.. NOT much at all :( but heres a lil more vid of the beast with hood painted.. bullets on it.. and my freinds maro

OHH man I love that car bro!!!! What does the Camaro have in it? The one that was in the vid? You should do another joyride vid man, that way I can get off some more :P I just love power man!!! I also have a 72 Monte Carlo, not nearly that power, but when I get the 3:55s in her, she'll keep up with my stock LS1 np!

Its been a lil while since i logged in.. and Ive got a ton of 0 post members PMing me wanting pics and Times Dyno#s info that im kinda leary of.. but at same time i dont wanta burn anyone who keeps up with this thread and keeps giving me good feedback (which I truely appreicate!! each and every post!!) on all the work ive done to the car and may think im stuck up.. deff not the case.. Im just a grudge racer who has fun in being sneaky but at same time likes to help good people.. yea OIL and WATER!!! so Heres a 2nd vid i had made B4 The 1st one i made that i started this thread with.. Its got alot more pics of the work involved and yes.. So do we have any new updates since all the vids have disappeared? By the way that is still a pretty sick ride, but sweet as hell.

I see only the motor lives now in your monte. Sad to see your Bird go to the junkyard for all the hard work ya did to it.
