I'm trying to take my car to the final stages. I have an AJE K member with a pinto style rack. I ordered the headers over the winter. Why does the drivers side don't fit. I could not beleave it. I don't think lemons took into account that I have pinto style rack on the car. Not to mention the AJE moves the the front bar foward about 6 inches for more oil pan clearence. so this moves the steering shaft foward enough to interfer with the front header tube. I'll have picture after my car comes from the chassis shop. I'm going to put the motor in and snap a few pictures. This a link to see what the car looks like so far for the most part.

AJE k members make every header a pain to install. You will have to redo the steering shaft around the header tube.

When I talked to anthony at AJE he told me that Lemons never odered a K member for our cars. So that mean that lemons are just looking at pictures or something and building headers for our cars with an AJE k member. Correct me if I'm wrong but something just don't sound right about that.

Don't know about the AJE but Dan got a k-member several years back from us to gaurantee fitment. I have a set of his headers on my small block 2" to 2 1/8" stepped with manual rack fit perfect.

I talked to Dan and AJE, dan never ordered a K member form AJE. I'll bet that my headers would fit your Bmr k member. Looking it all over it looks like he set the headers up for a stock rack location. The Aje rack postion is foward about 6 to 8". I'll have the car home in the morning and the motor should be in by the weekend i'll take pictures. Yes i told Dan what the application was and all the info. I went with the AJE because it gives more oil pan clearence. No big deal Dan said he would fis them or refund my money back. i don't want the money i just want the headers to fit.

I got it figured out. i have to move the rack to the pass side 4" and take the 4" extension off the pass side of the rack and put it on to the driver side. I also have to notch my k member on the pass side where the lower control arm mount up. I also had to dent the number two and five pipe a little bit to clear the control arm boxes.

Great that you got it figured out, but for the value I wouldn't be denting or cutting on anything. Have you tried to sell them and just get another set made that fit the way their supposed too?

x-tra pipes? What do you mean? Another set of headers or extra length to fab them up correctly without having to cut and dent pipes?

Dont Forget that you can buy AJE through Jegs.
MAdman do you have a picture of the modifications you are talking about to the shaft?

Move the rack over and build a new steering shaft. This is the reasoning for all my K-members now come from Burkhart Chassis. I dont have to worry about fitment issues that way.

Dave is a great guy to work with, good to see more people using his suspension/chassis components.

Got everything in, well I know now. Dan sent me some few 24" 2 3/8 bends. My problem was I'm the first on my block to do this to one of these cars. Most people I know don't want to spend the coin or the time in doing one. The car will still weigh around 3000 to 3200, everyone that I know wants something a little lighter. If I would have known another person doing one like this i could have saved myself hours and a few dollars. But I must say she's about 90% finished and i like what I've done, money and time well spent.

BTW I did not have to touch the steering shaft.
