ok ive been workin on my 81 monte carlo for a while and i finally got the money for a crate engine and tranny my question is will the new 350 fit directly into the 267 mounts, considering its only a smaller version of the 350 and what tranny should i match it with? and will i have to buy a new driveshaft as well?

Wow - that takes me back to last year. I had a 267 in my 81 camaro - what a turd engine. You'll be happy (even if the 350 is the 260hp version).

With Chevrolet, a small block is a small block is a small block (unless your talking about LT1 or LS1)

What tranny do you have now? If it's a TH350 you'll be fine. If you have to buy a tranny, I'd recommend getting a 200R4. You'll get an overdrive (which will allow you to run better gears and still keep it streetable) and won't have to change the driveshaft length (if you monte came with a TH350). You will have to get a new transmission crossmember.

Feel free to pm me with any questions, I have a fair amount of experience with G-Bodies.
