FWIW, 2009 Cobalt SS most likely gets the 260hp/260tq Turbo DI 2.0 as found in the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline.
So it'll return even better after a 1-year absence. :)

Ditto, a kid in my town has one and I enjoyed hearing the kazoo of a whine from it :(

Little kazoo, you shall be missed.

Such a neat idea. I actually climbed into one but was turned off by the price tag and lack of acceleration. Test drive aside, it looked like a good car until I found out you can get an SS without the S/C! WHY???????

Octane that's definetly what is going to happen. It makes a lot more sense too instead of having turbo's going into the sky/solstice and then a sc going into the cobalt.

Like the Camaro... coming back in 2009 with more ass to kick and more names to take...

$20 says that the next Cobalt SS > Porsche Boxster :)

^^^Well, faster in the 1320, at least. :lurk:

Are you thinking of GTZ? Or maybe Z26? It had like 5 different trims. hehe Z24 was always Cavalier... a completely diff platform.

It was kinda fast when it came out compared to all other NEW cars at the time. Don't you remember the shark commerical? I can't say it say a good car cause because of the Pontiac 3000 AWD which had some options a lot of cars don't even have now.

Good...so maybe I can finally build that potent little 7 replica with all the wrecked Cobalts there will be!

Now if they only made a 6spd to mate up to that motor for RWD.

Along with the Cobalt getting the 2.0T we will also see the Astra RedLine end up with the same motor and trans. There was also a rumor that the HHR will too, but I dont know if there was confirmation on that. Anyone here have any info on that?

...as in Caterham Super 7 with an Ecotec turbo (instead of the "usual" Vauxhall 2.0 NA)??

The panel wagon will have the same motor and weigh less due to optioning. Ill opt for it.

Nope Z24 also came on Berattas. I see one every freaking day at work.

Ive kinda liked the SC cobalt and for the price not a bad little car. Itll make a nice comeback.

You can find these 05-07 SC SS's for under $15k used right now. Seems to me they'd make a fun and economical daily driver.

It should be interesting to see what they do with the turbo version.

Wrong, it was a Z26.

The Ecotec is really turning into a good performance platform, making want a Sky Roadster if they werent so girly.

I always liked the 3.1 Cavalier Z24's, lots of pep for the time in a car that size.

Never was a big fan of the Beretta though.

The supercharged cobalts were quite fun to drive.. i had one

and the best part is they got 30+ mpg hwy easy.. first car i had that did consistently better than the sticker said!

we'll have to see how these LNF turbo engines play out .. first problem will be the PCM.. i doubt HP tuners will hack it for a while..

The GTZ is a hard piece to find these days. I loved those cars!! And it was one of the few cars in the time period which came with body color rims. I wish they would bring that stuff back!!!! DROOLLLLLLL!

The 3.1L were the fastest you could get in the time period for that range of displacement. Those cars weren't that bad IMO. I see it as we are spoiled today!

Only thing is you could blow up the 3.1L's Getrag way too easy if you wanted to drag race those suckers. hehehe

I enjoy driving my cobalt more than my Camaro...isnt that sad. It sucks they are going to stop making them. Oh well, mine will hold value when it comes time to trade it in on a new Camaro.
