The SS will be unveiled with its supercharged 6.2L making 650Hp in January. Thats not really news though.
What is is the C7. Automobile is saying (as if it is incontravertible fact) that the C7 will be mid-engined. Page 64, Automobile for August of 07.
Holy freakin crap.
I hope I am not behind the times here, but I did just get an August issue of Automobile in early July. And I have not heard anything about mid-engine untill now.
Big changes. If they make the Vette a mid-engine car thats still affordable and mod freindly, I am going to be very very happy.

Digital Corvettes has had a few articles about such things. I think an LS series midmounted would be God's Gift to mankind!!!

That rumor starts every freaking new generation. It will never happen. If anyone gets a mid-engine supercar, it will probably be Cadillac.

geez, it almost seems the C6 is still a new body style and now C7's.... this is just ridiculous, I guess I just need more money $$$ to spend on these new cars since body styles don't stick around like they used to

Good point. Zora Artis-Duntov tried his whole time at GM to get them to go MR.
However, I do think its a lot more feasable now for two reasons:
1) The newer chassis are very easaly adapted to MR. Aftermarket companies have done it on C5 chassis'.
2) Rear mounted tranny. Thats half the battle right there.
So I wont be sitting on pins and needles, but I wont be surprised to see it happen either. Automobile tends to stay away from sensationalist stuff. And their wording was very low key but sure.
Honestly I dont think it would make modding any harder. The current bay is already a bit tough, especailly compared to an F-Body. Imagine how much fun the exhaust will be :) A set of long tubes and some mufflers. That would be one heck of a sound.
