I would like to know so I could get better reception. :eek2:
Please do not show me the thing with the Firebird where it's mounted inside the wing. Other ideas please!

When I bought our hawk the guy had an Xm antenna mounted on the top of the dash under the windsheild. I tired to activate it for about a week with no luck and could never get the "download" other than the free preview station before I yanked that system out and went back all stock. I have heard of people mounting them under the rear spoiler too. IMHO, it would seem for best reception the higher the better....?

i 3m double stick all gps or satelite radio antennas to the hatch glass and loop the wire in through the grommet just inside the hatch on top in all the f-bodies i work on.
My XM antenna is hidden inside the hatch itself.

Since this car is long gone I can't take any pics for you, but these are a couple of pics I have that show my antenna the best.

My Z28 was a hardtop car, so we just ran the wires along the molding, down the passenger side a-piller, under the dash, and too the reciever. It was a very clean setup. No wires showed.
Edit: MY BAD! I guess I should have told you were too look instead of just posting pics. It's monted on top of the b-piller (I'm pretty sure that is what it is called on these cars) between the top of the hatch and the roof (were the t-tops would be on a t-top car)

My antenna is mounted underneath the windshield cowl on the passenger side (1-2 inches away from the vent). Works perfect, and is completely hidden!

No pics, but I mounted my Sirius antenna between the hatch and the plastic directly underneath the spoiler. It'd lose reception occasionally going under a bridge... but was pretty good for being completely hidden. I just ran the wiring, then pulled that plastic panel down, and stuck it there with two sided tape.

Sounds like you did exactly what I did...post #5.

My sirius is mounted inside my bumper cover on my C5 right on top of the third brake light. It gets full reception (same as when its mounted on top of the bumper at least) and works great. I used velcro on the underside of my bumper cover and on top of the third brake light to keep the antenna in place. I like hiding the antennas to reduce the chance of theft as well as the cleaner look of the car. On an f-body it looks like the windshield cowl that Jeff 97 did is one of the best and easiest places.

Yeah... I just seen that. I've got dial up and didn't wait for that pic to load earlier. That's pretty much what I did, except mine was directly on the passenger's corner of that piece.

Are you talking about in the truck, between carpet and fiberglass? It will pick up signal through the body? Im getting ready for an install on my C5Z and want a clean "stealth" install too.
Just curious, where are all you guys mounting your receivers?
I am thinkin' about moving my antenna, as I have never liked where it is and hiding it completely..
Here is where I mounted my receiver.

I also updated my site with the addition of this image.
Ahh nice install...
Maybe I'll drive the TA to work next week and try to tinker with it some.. All my stuff is just mounted into the glove compartment, which is a nice install, but the glove compartment is next to useless..
Ahh nice install
Thanks :)
No sweat, I think I'll steal the idea.. :D

I also have mine under the cowl as well. I have mine right under the driver side windsheild wiper and I let it stick out about an inch. The cowl holds it in place. The wiper doesn't touch it at all. You can see it if you notice it but no one has ever noticed it. I get great reception and it was easy as hell to run it there. I have my receiver in the corner by the driver A pillar. I don't really like it there but it work for now. Might try to put it down by the cig lighter one of these days. I say try it under the cowl. It is very easy to run it there and if you don't like it just take it out. Took me about 5 minutes to run it there.

So, does this mean yours is mounted to the glass? What I meant about my antenna was that it is underneath the plastic piece on the passenger side of the windshield cowl (can't see it at all).

Nope, not mounted to the glass at all. It is just under the plastic and the plastic holds it against the window. I had it all the way under the plastic at first but I wasn't getting the best signal with it totally under the plastic. So I just lifted the edge of the plastic near the wiper and put the antenna under the plastic so it sticks out about half way. The wiper doesn't hit it when it goes all the way down and it gets much better reception. It works good for me and you can barely see it.
