I wonder how difficult it would be, if it would even be worth it, and if serious owners would possibly swap over the awd system into the fwd ???? caliber.

I liked that they said the neon was the fastest car for under 20 grand lol

They meant if you did what you are supposed to, and drove it off a cliff. It's terminal velocity is faster than the LS1 in the quarter.

I think they were talking about New cars. In 2003 the srt stickered for $19,995 and ran high 13's low 14's stock. No other car in 2003 ran those times stock and cost less than 20g's new.

Geez fucking finally, it seemed like they would never build this car. Not that i want one, but i have been waiting and waiting to see what it would look like in person.

Yuck!! I still can't believe they chose that body for the new S R T 4!! It will be funny watching hondas and nissans getting whooped up on by a mini- mini-van/Durango HAHAHAHA!!!!

Just fugly!! I keep trying to see a certain angle that looks good, but it ain't happening. While in the past I would have considered buying an S R T - 4 Neon, this car is just wrong. The previous Neon actually looked pretty good, had great seats, and some pretty good mod parts to get the power up to LS1 beating strength. Hell, even the previous gen Neon R/T coupe was something I considered, as I thought the coupe looked best.

The 2nd day I had my SS, an ????? prototype tried to drag me on an open highway in Oklahoma. He actually did hang from 40 to about 70, but then he found out that even a 6-year old SS isn't to be toyed with! He didn't let up until about 130, at which point I had 15 car lengths on him.

Hopefully for him, no potential customers saw his Mopar-badged hot rod get dusted...

Not my cup of tea, but it's a cool little car.

I like this line

"Featuring a turbocharged and intercooled version of the global Chrysler 2.4-liter DOHC inline four with dual variable valve timing, the engine produces 280 hp and 260-lb-ft of torque—and we hear the real numbers are actually as much as 5 hp and 5 lb-ft higher than that."

Wow, they make that 5hp and tq sound like a huge deal, lol...Thats nothin like the fact that f-body's are way underrated, as well as most performance cars in the late 60s early 70s...

its a lot better than over-rating the engines....ford had to adjust hp numbers with cobras less than ten years ago, and cst-v owners were close to a lawsuit when their cars didn't dyno as high as they thought they should have. mazda's rx8 was rated like 20hp higher than it should have been. not good pub. even with the original ????? the numbers chrysler gave were taken at the wheel, which is something that isn't normally done. you want to talk about underrated? the srt-8s could have easily been advertised as 450hp engines as opposed to 425.

the rumors i've heard is that they've had all kinds of issues with this car and had to get them sorted out before it could hit the road. driveability(torque steer) was one issue, but i think the engine was supposed to actually have closer to 300 or so hp but the new "world engine" wouldn't stay together. don't take that as the gospel, just something i heard thorugh the grapevine.

making it awd was going to price it out of the range of the market they were going for. and it was going to add weight to a vehicle that already weighs more than the neon. i also heard something about the way the engine with the turbo was layed out it would have made an awd system difficult, but i don't know much about that.
