I know that the HHR isn't high on most people's list, but the new 2008 SS version looks pretty cool. We bought an '06 HHR for the wife's daily commute and it's been a good little car. But, what it needs is 100 horse more (what car doesn't!). The seats looks great, too.

That will be a cool get around town ride.

Same LNF motor that Solstice GXP and Sky RedLine have.
Turbo DI 2.0L 260hp/260tq.

The official debut will be Saturday at the Woodward Dream Cruise. :)

Hoorah, screwin up the SS name even more with the Homoseczual Hot Rod!

I hate anything that looks like a PT Loser, or in this case is a rip off of it.

I am pretty sure the Cobalt SS and Ion Redline are going to be seeing this same upgrade soon.

My dad and I test drove a Solstice GXP and you don't hit boost until about 3500 RPM, think it might rev to 7k. He bitched about it constantly but I enjoyed the feel and the little whistle. He says they should have stuck the blower on it if it was designed for the track, would have helped pull it through corners.

Will be interesting to see what these engines are capable of in the future.

Tell your dad he's stuck in 1969.

Cobalt SS yes.
Ion is on its way out of production, so that won't happen.

First I heard about the Ion going out of production. Isn't it still relatively new?

The Ion is toast when the new Saturn Astra comes in from Germany to replace it's nasty ass. The Ion is well past it's freshness date. I wanna say like 10+ years old...

I kind of like the HHR SS.

At least it is not just body cladding and no performance.

Turbo = :burn:

The Cobalt and HHR are on the same platform as the outgoing ION.

But Cobalts and HHRs aren't the ION now are they? The ION was stale out of the box....

The point is that the Cobalt and HHR aren't doing anything differently than what the ION has done other than throw than throw a turbocharged 4 cylinder under the hood. Looks aside, they're not different (unless all you're referring to are the looks - in which case, you're right).

We just bought my wife one. Guess we should've waited a little longer. Say what you want about the looks of the car, but somehow my wife found a forum on the internet for them just like us, so they can't be that bad. They even have performance stuff ( cai, header, full exhaust, tuners etc. ), and appearance stuff for them. Hers is atleast a 5-speed so that makes it a little better. You should see the one Unique Performance did with a blown LSX under the hood and converted to rwd. :burn:

RWD and LSx would be sweet on that car. I bet they do not weigh that much either. Good set of gears on that badboy and you could surprise everyone.

The driving dynamics of all three are worlds apart. None of them weigh the same, none of them are the same body style. You have a coupe, five door hatch, and an ext-cab coupe. I'd rather have an HHR or Cobalt than an ION any day....

I can't comment on the HHR, but I've driven an ION Quad Coupe, Sedan and Cobalt LS Coupe and LT Sedan. IMO, they all felt the same. These were all the 2.2 automatic versions, so I can't comment on the 2.4 or 2.0.
