If you mount the crossover say in the rear of your car and your speakers are up in front. Would this affect the sound or anything? Or would it just be more wiring. Thanks.

Nope, it'll be fine. Just have to run two sets of wires rather than one, tweeter and woofer will need different sets of wire.

ideally, you do want as little wire as possible between the crossover and tweeter/woofer components

Would it affect sound?

I have some Polk SR6500 and do not want the huge ass crossovers on my door panels.

It won't hurt anything. Just make sure to run sufficient wire size, like 14 or 12 gauge, you'll be fine.

either way a shorter wire is better. less chance of interference. think of it as a garden hose...after so many feet it isnt effiecient

16 gauge is fine. I run 12 gauge because I got a 250' spool for cheap online, but it is by no means necessary.

whoa crap.. didnt know that about the wires.. i sort of just coiled mine up in a twisty and left it in the door w/ my cadence component 6.5s... that was pretty long wire too

Thats why I said to use sufficient wire size.

The wire has to travel that distance anyway, there is no difference whether it travels that distance up to the crossover mounted in the door or from the crossover in the rear to the speaker in the door. It's the exact same path.

you have to define sufficient Thickness. I know I ran 12 gauge all around..... i got it cheap by the spool too........ although my tweeters came with only 14-or 16 guage. it doesnt make a difference. Go as thick as the tweeter input.

As far as affecting sound, it wont affect it anymore than any other system without Time Correction. If your worried about delay, then youll need a nice deck with time correction, or amp, or signal processor.

It's fine. Even at 16 gauge, you have to have a rather lengthy run of wire to notice a difference.
