i got some duel voice coil subs to replace the factory i was just told to connect the 2 channels to the 2 voice coils of the sub. i did this seperatly. i kept the factory plug and just spliced off the wires so i know i have positive and ground on right. i used the ED eu700s. i used this install guide http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=639901 i have a hole drilled for the port and a spacer made. mine isnt sealed yet, but im sure that the speaker just isnt even moving. even when i have the sub out of the sail pannel, i know that its not getting grounded out.

why wouldn't your sub be grounded out? It's connected, right?

Are you sure you did your sub wiring correctly?

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=1&woofer_imp=3

Follow that to wire your subs correctly. I would get an amp to power those if I were you. That's my .02 :)

no i got 4 wires a side from the factory. im just trying to replace the factory subs. the write up says to just connect the 4 wires to the 4 sub terminals. they are the same ohms as the factory. but yea they are connected.

Just to make sure you have the right wires hooked up as far as polarity (pos./neg.):
Left side:
Tan +, White -
Dark blue with white +, Light green with black -

Right side:
Red +, Tan -
Dark green +, Light blue with black -

You did get the correct 4+4 ohm double voice coil version of the eD subs, right? The 2+2 ohm DVC version won't work properly and could seriously damage your amp.

Nah, damage wouldn't occur unless he cranked it hard. I assume he would tell us if they worked for a minute and then stopped working.

umm im pretty sure i got the 4+4. i taped into the wires after the harness so there is 2 red and 2 black. should i tap straight into the wires b4 it?

and only if his amp wasn't 2 ohms stable :)

and only if his amp wasn't 2 ohms stable :)We're talking about the factory Monsoon amp. The sail panel subs in a Firebird are run off two 4-ohm channels each (that are not 2-ohm stable).

There is the question of polarity but wiring them in reverse wouldn't cause the speakers to stop working.

well i did get one working on the side thats installed. the other side i just plugged in and it worked also. but once i drove around it stopped working. im thinkin that something keeps getting smashed in the install.

Are the wires getting pinched between the spacer and the metal?

i notched the spacer. i pulled it out again and got it working, playing with it. i dont know if the notch wasnt enough or what but its working now.
