Ok so I just bought a new alpine head unit and I love it. But I want to take it farther. I am having a hard time to decide whether to get two 10's or two 12's. I don't care about have an outrageously loud system but I want it to be heard outside of the car. So with that said which should I get? And also what are the good brands that make quality sub's?

I have always went with either the 2-10's or one 15. Never had 12's....but I say go with 2 10" Alpine type R subs. With at least a 1000W amp. All this should cost around $600 for everything. And if money is an obstacle Alpine has entry level subs for under $100 a piece or rockford is good too.

If you want to stick with alpine get two 10" type r's but if you want to be heard get Kicker L7's ... I love the way they sound and if powered right can be loud

Do you listen to your music outside the car? You should be concerned with how it sounds inside the car, not outside the car.

Your options are only limited by your budget in this case, which you havn't mentioned yet.

If you are thinking of the type r's as an option make sure you get a good amp to power them. Type r's tend to be pretty sloppy with low dampening factors.

This is true! I even have 3 that have only been played for a month, and a Rockford 1001BD amp i could part with!:D
