Well the car is done for the year. Waiting for the title to come in (went to the DMV today) and also will have my plate come in in April.
I wanted RED ALRT or 1BADZ28 but they were both taken so I got
1SICKZ
Car is going to Burkhart Chassis around March or April we are thinking. Car will be legal to 8.50's and cut 1.2X-1.3 60's I am thinking (they said no problem to 1.3's on my 8.5 wide tire!)
Keeping the GM aluminum heads and having them and the Strip Dominator intake ported my a Pro Stock builder/porter. Having the BG carb sent back to BG to get re-blueprinted/built.
Going from a two stage to a single stage and hit the car out of the hole on like a 275 shot, electric water pump, better air filter set-up. If money allows I am going from the two Holley blue fuel pumps (seperate systems) to a single large pump and T-brake it before it goes back out. Dyno tune it at EPP also.
Based on what the car has run I am thinking it should run 8.8-8.9 on the bottle. We will see. If not at least BOTTOM 9's then something is wrong!
Not bad for a 468 BBC with GM aluminum heads.

yeah, thats it. My buddy and I know most of the BIG drag racers in the area. We had to run out there for u-bend when fabbing headers for his Buick.
Where are u from? What tracks do u go to?

A three hour drive is not what I call a long hall hahaha.
I think I am going to get the motor work done here pretty quick since I am not going to be able to get an opening over there for a while.
My buddy has an F-250 with an enclosed trailer and I think a winch in it so I might send the car to them engine/tranny less.

I just never realized how well-known Burkhart is. I guess they have an office in Decatur...probably a shop there too. I have only been to his house in Harristown....which is where I thought ALL of his work was done. I imagine he has another shop in Decatur.

U going to stroke it?

U going to stroke it?
Yeah, STROKER! You ought to take it to +.100" and add the 4.25" crank=505ci.
DO IT!

If I stroke it and punch it I think these heads will be to small. Keeping it as is.

aaahhh....thats cool though. I think its cooler to "only have a 468ci" that SCREAMS vs. a 500+ci that runs OK anyway.....................But who cares what I think.

Shit man, my end goal for my 89 is a 496 on the street, a supra killer ya know what i mean? I just am still having trouble figgureing a way to mount a T56 behind it.

LT1 style T56 are the ones I've heard work. I'm not sure about the bellhousing and quite a few companies make clutches for that application.

Well, the flywheel is my concern, i dont know which one will work yet. I did however find one to make my 408 i am building work.

It's been covered in this section a lot. Just do a search for T56 in this section.

Fast cars with manuals don't mix.
Im helping a buddy build his Supra AGAIN, like a T-80 dual ball bearing turbo, everything ported and aftermarket intake, stage 3 cams, TH-400.
Going to have like 1,000 crank hp. On his last Turbo wich was a 72 I think and less port work on the heads it made more power sooner then any other Supra.
Him and I should be a good race.
People I have seen in f-bodies and stangs with other 500hp and sticks allways loose it seems from a dig. Every now and then they win.
Now if you only do roll racing then go for it.

I do whatever sounds good and i know my car is capable of. Wider tires allways help:)

I plan to run high 8's on an 8.5 wide tire :)

Or you could also run considerably quicker on a larger tire. I get your point, but wider tires work.

More tire = more rolling weight.
Plenry of guys on this tire in the 8's and running a 1.3 or less 60.
Less tire means= less rolling weight.
If you can manage a 1.2-1.3 60 on a 8.5 tire on a stock style suspension then Id say you don't need a wider tire :)

Im on the street, so the rest is BS, i need the widest i can get. In the track i have a set of MT 26x11.5x16 that hold great.

More tire = more of a hit out of the hole. Better 60ft with other variables the same = quicker ET.

If the suspension is perfect and you're hooking....THEN, you're, well, HOOKING. And the 60' aint gettin' any better. It can be done on a well tuned suspension. I have seen cars from Burkhart Chassis on small tires. They 60' with those little back tires. So therefore, all that bigger tire would do is slow the car down unless on a poorly prepped track.

Yep......
I will go wider later but not now.

The '86 in my sig I helped build a couple years ago(spec'd out ALL of the parts on the car) with a friend of my grandpa's. Now I am buying it with a couple of large payments for a whopping $6200!...about 18-20K invested and only about 50 1/8 passes on the whole car!
Anyway, it has 26x10.5 MT's on it and has had a best spinning 1.42 60' with SSM lift bar kit. I plan to remove the lift bars and use Chromoly control arms, panhard, and torque. I think I can get it to hook consistently on these little tires. I dont want to go any taller if I dont have to because it looks so damn good with the short tires on it.
