Does anyone know of a paint that is good for sound deadening?
Thanks

They make a sound deadener that you can paint on. Its kinda like truck bed lining.
Yeh, I'm trying to find someone who has used some of this..

There is a couple people here that have used it but I can't remember their names for the life of me. I know they are here because when I was researching sound deadener they came up a few times. They will probably see your post and get in.

well, i have used Second Skin sludge and spectrum. One is more of a paste and the other is an actual paint. Great results with both however please do not rush them; depending on the type of day you car will be out of commishion for a few days while applying. You will have to wait until they harden up enough and will get full results days after they have fully cured. I have also heard good things about Elemetal designs products however i have not tried them. What area/area's are you thinking of doing? The whole car? Particular section? Please elaborate.

Actually, I'd like to do the car, but it'll be next in line..
We are putting it in this:

We are planning on putting in on the cockpit floor mainly and maybe on the walls of the cockpit also..
Since this is going into a plane, weight and integrity is a concern. You might want to check with others that have done this to similar planes.
Weight isn't a huge concern - as long as we're not talking 250lbs.. :)
Nor is integrity, as the paint is not providing any sort of structural benefit..
I recently ripped out what WAS in the plane - we are going to Herculine the floor of the cockpit and we were thinking about maybe throwing down some sound deadening paint and then herc'ing the floor over the sound deadening paint.. :)
Right now the floor is just bare sheet metal..

damn, that first picture looks like a remote controlled model airplane.

What I meant by integrity is that added weight in the wrong place and jepardize integrity. I'm not saying that the product he intends to use is a problem. I'm just saying that adding weight to a plane is something to take lightly (pun intended).

x2.
if weight is an issue which i can see it being.. i would look into Cascade Audio. Very effective, on par with second skin if not better but it is as expensive as second skin. They have a wide variety of ways so sound deaden with some materials being weight friendly. Look them up; they seem to be the way to go for you.

Yeh, it does, doesn't it?
It was taken from the cockpit of an Airbus A-300..

Adding weight to the plane will not jeopardize the integrity of the aircraft.. At least not in the amounts that paint would add.. What it can/could do is change the balance of the aircraft around the center of gravity, either forward or rearward, which each have it's own set of side effects..
I do not know what the average sound deadener weighs, but 15lbs of extra weight, displaced across the floor of the cockpit will do zero to alter the characteristics of the aircraft - other than deadening the sound. :D

Thanks for the link.. Nice to see it is also TSO'd for aircraft use.. Looks pretty light also.. May have to give this stuff a shot.. :D

Post up your results after you do this.
We are still researching, but I can post up after we do it if you'd like.. It will probably be a month or two.. I still have some other interior work to do on her.. Giving her a bit of a face lift.. :D
