Are the Cobra Radar's good??? Im not sure of the correct brand name, but ive seen em in Wal-Mart & Sear's.

There's 1 special State Trooper here that's a dick lol He's always looking to stop someone and lately, ive been lucky to slow down at just the right moment when i spot him coming.

Which radar's do yall use, which seem's to be the best one???

I use the cobra's in both my car and truck and have had really good
luck with both. I have the middle and top of the line cobra and they
work great. I'm sure there are better ones out there but for the money
I think these are very good......

I paid over $400 for the Beltronix STI. So far it's been good in the city. I have not used it for highway travel yet. I went with this detector over the Valentine simply because i did the research online and it was rated very high on many sites. Maybe I paid too much for a radar detector, but I'll count my blessings until I get a ticket.

I'm wondering as well. I'd really rather not fork out hundreds for a Bel, Val1 or Escort. I just want something that works.

I think my friend has that one in his Subaru. It runs on doube A batteries, right? I have a cobra radar, Just got it less then a week ago. Also have a state trooper here in town that trys to find a reason to stop someone. He stopped my friend in his S R T 4 just cause he had a white bulb in his third brake light.

Double A batteries????? Uhhhh no, you can either hardwire the set up through the dash or use a lighter-chord to power it up. Never heard of a detector that uses batteries.

Well yeah dude he has one. I even saw that shit before. He bought it from his friend at work for pretty much close to nothing. Pretty nice radar. It doesn't like run off of batteries, it has a cord too but you can run it off AA batteries of you wanted to.

I like my Cobra, it just finally bit the dust last night. I guess 5 years on a black dash in the Texas sun will make it freak the fuck out.

my escort has paid for itself over and over. a LOT less cops in DFW than boston, but i still like having it. however, more and more police are using instant on Ka band radars and laser, which make radar detectors useless

Where can you find those scrammbler things.. Or whatever they are called. The cops can't read your speed or something like that. It messes their radar up. Idk. Seen it somewhere, Just can't seem to remember.

Not sure what batteries they use but there are such thing as cordless radar detectors. It's great for people with multiple cars that dont want to run around changing the cords from cigarette lighter to cigarette lighter. Just take the thing off the windshield and be done with. They costs a little more though.

K40 makes a laser blocker along with their radar detectors that is just awesome! Saved my azz several times when i had it in my Lexus. Unfortunately, it was built in and I sold it with the car.

If I had the money I would purchase a Valentine 1, but there are also military-/industrial-grade radar detectors. Haven't had time to research them. My buddy from high school had a cheap one and earned a 20mph over speeding ticket after track day was canceled due to rain this summer.

Do not TOUCH that POS. Get a Laser Pro Park (LPP) or AntiLaser ONLY if you want a laser jammer. Active radar jammers are not sold and are federally illegal. Look for reviews on that phaser II thing, people literally say an empty cardboard box on your dash will work as well or better.

It's not too terrible, but it's nowhere NEAR the original Passport 8500, nevermind the X50.

I've done a lot of research on radar detectors and laser jammers. Currently have an Escort 8500 X50 and a Blinder Laser Jammer. The main difference with radar detectors from my real world experience is that the cheaper ones will usually get the job done but with a lot of annoying false alerts which make you ignore the alerts. Ignoring the alerts at the wrong time gets you a ticket. Detector testing reports can be found here http://www.speedzones.com/

Radar cannot legally be jammed. It's a federal offense. However you can jam laser and my Blinder jammer http://www.blinderxtreme.com/ works VERY well. The laser alert on various radar detectors is more of an advance warning that you'll be getting a ticket since laser is almost instantaneous. The blinder will alert you and jam it long enough (sometimes all the way to where the cop is standing depending on which gun he's using) for you to slow down.

Mostly true. Laser shifters (jammers, blinders, etc.) are illegal in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, and Washington DC.

And a laser gun will overcome the interference at a distance of a couple hundred yards even with the best shifter. That's still plenty of distance to get a good reading but it's also probably enough time for you to scrub off excess speed to avoid a ticket.

LIDAR (laser) can't be used at night (by law) or in rainy, foggy or snowy conditions because of beam diffusion. Also, the expensive equipment means that it gets used mostly where there is sufficient traffic to generate lots of ticket revenue. So watching your speed in traffic can be your best defence.

LPP or Antilaser will JTG (jam to gun) in most conditions. The crappy jammers like Escort, Blinder or Lidatek will not fare nearly as well, but they definitely help.

Yes you are correct about those states. However people in those states have claimed successfully in court that since these type of devices are also used to open/communicate with residential security gates that this was the specific reason why they had them. Also, most come with a switch that you can turn off after you have slowed down to allow him to get a reading and not bring attention to yourself.

Depending on the shape of the car, color, amount of chrome on the front end and type of laser gun used, many jammers were able to get a jam to gun, meaning the cop was not able to get a reading at all. Black T/A's with jammers and w/o exposed headlights are prime examples of a jam to gun. Blinder has a distributor 25 miles from me so I've seen what they can do.

For a complete review of all the top equipment go to www.guysoflidar.com they are the best around for reviews.

Also, for the best laser jammer look into the Laser Interceptor. It is state of the art in jammers - a field that is quickly developing as the police quickly migrate towards lidar speed detection.

BTW, I have an STi and it's one very good radar detector. Voice alerts, few falses and great range. 9500i is great too. For a cheap detector Whistler is your best bet. Avoid the Cobras, they are cheap junk.

I just bought the escort 9500i works wonders, and when I do get a false alarm I just block it out and never hear it again :). I would recommend it to anyone that was looking for a radar detectors... New investment though I'm looking for a laser jammer :/
