Stereo & Electronics - ****PICS INSIDE- Custom Lighted Dash Kit (Humount) with Alpine Deck****

Here are a few pics of my custom dash kit and my new Alpine Deck. The dash kit is a Humount and has a blue LED backlight. I wasn't too sure about the Blue backlight, but after looking at it, it flows well with the red/blue lighted CD player. I am happy with the way it came out. I had a stock Monsoon head unit before this new Alpine unit, and the sound difference is amazing. The Alpine deck made my Monsoon seem like a sack of crap. I can turn it up pretty loud with no distortion, whereas I couldn't before. It sounds ten times better. If anyone wants information on where to get one, just PM me and i will get you turned in the right direction

I have one of these and mine lights up in Red. Do you remember how you hooked it up to what leads? I don't have instructions but I think there's two wires? I need to install it soon. Thanks

The power wire (probably red) goes to 12V power and the ground wire (probably black) goes to ground. :poke: The brown wire in the black connector behind the radio is power from the dash lights that you can tap into.
There also like $80 for that, the website who sells them is (non-sponsor link deleted)

Looks really nice.
I just ordered my HU Mount today, but went with the polished finish and the red light to match the stock dash colors. My deck will change to red too.
Have you changed all your interior lighting to blue?

Nah, its still red. I am considering it, but not too sure yet. Its possible I might change the blue Trans Am to red, Im gonna give it a few weeks and then decide what I am going to do.

Kelw, but did you guys tie into the steering wheels controls? If so, where did you get the wiring adapters?

I didn't bother with buying an adaptor for my stering wheel controls, mainly beacuse I never used them in the first place. I know they make some kind of adaptors for them, but don't know where to get them.

I just finished up my HU Mount (awesome product!!) last night and installed my SWI-X so I could keep my steering wheel controls. I didn't go with the lighted kit but I did put white vinyl behind the T/A cutout so it matches the car's exterior color (looks pretty cool IMO ). I'll post up pics later today of the finished product.

I was thinking of putting the "Trans Am" lettering underneath the head.. any thoughts on that? Might not have to cut out that little nub that sticks up in the radio cavity, too ;)
The plan for me is to hook the lights up to the dimmer, so that the T/A letters get dimmer when I dim the dash lights.. ;)

I just bought one thanks to this post...I have a blue Sony deck, and White Face Reverse Glow guages that glow blue. I wont hook mine through the dimmer switch though because I keep my dimmer switch off. It lets a funky white glow through the back of my reverse glow's so I just turn em down and all is good. I'll prolly hook it into my fog light switch like I did my reverse glow's. Thanks for this post though, this is perfect!

Connect it to the brown wire in the stereo harness. That's the parking light circuit (non-dimming) and it's more convenient for where you're connecting.

that sounds good to me. I have my parking lights on 99% of the time so that would be good. I am about to do the easy mod to make my fog lights stay on when I turn my brights on lol. Right now I have my reverse glow's hooked up through the fog lights and when I turn my brights on my gauge lights go out...LMAO!

Really look forward to getting it in the car now. I won't have a battery in the car for at least 6 weeks so it will be a bit of a wait.:bang:

Red lighting to match the stock interior. I also have a brushed alum. bezel to match it. A nice set of MBA handles would make a nice finishing touch, I will have to see if I can find them in satin.:D

$65 or so. I love mine, but then you have to buy the HU which varies in price on what kind you get..

Ha ha ha, I didn't notice until you said something. I haven't touched it since I took these pics, so Im sure it probably still looks like that. I will get it leveled out tomorrow, thanks for pointing it out.

Nice! I'm waiting on the ida-x100 to do mine, and man, that just looks awesome! Unfortunately, I'm a little paranoid about drawing the wrong kind of attention to that part of the dash, so I'm going with the black plastic..

My car is rarely left alone. I only put 2-4k miles on a year and most of those are driving to a cruise night or the track. Then it gets locked it a secured garage. If they managed to get through the security in the garage, I would worry more about my tools.:D
