I did a search on this, only found one thread that seemed to cover it specifically, and there was only one reply; so I just wanted to double check the answer....
Say you have a 2001 Z28 with a stock Monsoon tape deck in the dash and the stock 12 disc changer in the trunk. Can you get a stock Monsoon CD deck and just plug it right in where the tape deck was without any special wiring or adaptors, and not have any problems? Is it just plug-and-play? Will the CD changer still work?
Any details welcome. Thanks. :)

Its my believe that it should work, depending on what year the CD Monsoon player is. I believe it needs to be 1999-02. 1998 wont work. I hope someone can corroborate this.

Stay away from 99 CD players. The change to add changer compatibilty happened late in the 99 model year and there is no way to tell if you have the early model (won't work) or the late model (will work) without opening it up. Everything from 2000 up will be okay.

So if I'm working with an '01 car that came with the tape player + CD changer, and I get a monsoon CD player out of a '00+ car that didn't come with a changer, the CD player will plug right in where the tape player was and work without modification?
Based on your post, I'm 99% sure the answer is yes. Just want to make sure. Thanks. :)
