I have 2 12" 1200W peak power sony xplod speakers running off a 2/1 channel 1000W sony xplod amp. Will a 2 gauge ground and power set up be sufficient to run this or do I need something bigger. Also, if i have the power wires with no fuse, can you just buy the fuse seperate?

You an buy a Fuse holder for 8$ at walmart, comes with a 40amp and 80amp fuse

Also, 8 gauge would be ok
4 gauge will be more than enough
and 2 gauge is a lot more than needed

I have 6 gauge power and ground for my 1000w kenwood and two JL 12s

Ok, so the 2 would be more then enough, but would it be ok, its not gonna mess anything up? And is 40 or 80 watt batter for the fuse!

2 gauge would probably be a waste of money, unless u already have it. i would go with either 4 or 8. and i think the 80amp fuse is what you would use because you are drawing a decent amount of power for the amp. but i'm not totally sure about the fuses.

The only reason I ask about the 2 gauge is cause someone is selling me it all for 30, and If I buy it new in the store, it is between 70-100 for the 8 or the 4

well, in any case 2 gauge isnt going to mess anything up. but if you can get it for that price, go ahead. at least you will have a bigger cable should you ever want to run more powerful amps. but we were just saying that buying 2 gauge brand new is a waste of money unless you are going to be running multiple high power amps in your setup.

Will the sony amp even except 2gauge wire? I highly doubt it will. Sony as well as many other companies have rated and advertised there AMPS for PEAK power. That virtually means nothing. You need to look at the RMS power of the amps and I can guarantee that the sony amps you have are no where near 1000 watts RMS. You could do 8 guage power wire for them amps and it would be perfect. It will be easier to run inside the car since it is thinner 2. But do what you like......

in a f body 2 is extremely hard to run w/o it being seen i ran 8 and it wasnt that easy 2 is basically overkill for you i ran a kenwood amp and 2 12"jls with 8 no problems until i totaled the car
