I'd say it depends on your budget as to what I'd recommend.

for the price kickers hit pretty good. Id look at a kicker L7, I've heard good things about their 10" and my friend showed me his and I was shocked how much bass this thing pumped out.

The kicker L7 10's are mean, i have heard the 10 inch L5's and those packed a punch and they arent that expensive if price isnt a factor then go with JL but for the price you cant go wrong with L7's.

Go with the OZ Matrix Elite 10. You will be blown away. I love the JL W7 and the W6 but when I heard the OZs I was like damn. 750watts rms and they sound unreal.

also polk momo has a shallow mount and bumps pretty hard, fosgates suck unless you go to their power series..I have two p2's in my truck since I just want bass to compliment my system and not control it...also thats as big as I could fit. I just sold my two alpine type R's, and those hit pretty fricken good to say the least

from what i hear the JL doesnt work well in the stealth box. any one tried it? if i went with the t-top box from subthump is it still easy to store my t tops? and wherte could i mount my amp if i didnt want it on top of the deck in the back?.. thanks

If you are on a budget, Kicker comp VR in a stealthbox or thunderform. If you want better and have the money, kicker comp VX. You'll love it.

i had the alpine type r in a mtx thunderform stealth box with 350 watts rms and it sounded really good even tho i needed a bigger amp. then i upgraded my system again and went with a memphis m1 dvc 10 with a mtx 3404 ta amp thats rated at 400w rms but and the birth sheet it puts out 488w rms at 2ohms and sounds way better than the alpine set up i had. i have had a few other subs in that box and the memphis m1 is by far the best i had. plays really low way lower than the alpine.

yeah ive heard some pretty loud kicker comp cvr's.... my buddy has 3 10's and they hit like no other, but that was also with a very nice kicker amp powering them...
ive got a kicker comp in a q loqic truck box im tryin to get rid of if you are wanting something that sounds clean and can still hit hard with the right amount of power...
just got a audiobahn 12 in a ported box and an infinity 1600a amp, so i really have no use for my old sub and amp... im just havin trouble findin a camera besides my cell phone camera to take pics with though

The JL W7 specifically doesn't work well in a stealth box. That's not to say the W6 or W3 won't work. They both do. Although in that price range there are alot of subs that would work well.
There are alot of subs here in price ranges and quality all over the spectrum. You still haven't narrowed it down. Kicker CVR's are entry level IMO but sound ok but you could buy 4 or 5 of them for the price of one W7. Not to mention there is no comparison between a W7 and a CVR but both are being recommended.
As I stated before...what is your price range...sub and amp? What do you listen to (music perference)? Are you willing to give up your hatch space? There are alot of variables that need to be narrowed down in order to make a good recommendation that makes sense for your needs and wants.
Where you hide your amp depends on what amp it is and how big it is.
The T-top box does work well for storage of your T-tops. It also gives you more airspace volume to work with for larger subs.

I have the Ttop box in the small compartment to the left inside the trunk and have an Alpine type R powered by a Fosgate amp with Alpine components and coaxles and it sound amazing! I am not huge on bass but I wanted it loud and clear. It is perfect. Ill try to post some pics...the local stereo shop(y=the only one I trust)did the install and it is clean!
