Alright guys I have been searching for a quality replacement that is affordable for you Trans Am/Firebird owners that have the dual voice coil sail panel subwoofers. I now have a product from Bazooka that look and sound great!! Check them out as I have a group buy going on for them. The next 5 or more orders I get for these I will offer them at $99.00 a pair shipped within the continental U.S.
These DO require a 1/2" spacer for a 6.75" speaker just like the Elemental Design sub.
Here's the link with the pics!!

Yea...that's what it said but I'm not sure about that Fred. Just going by the specs I was given. Either way if it's at or around 90db that would be good.

How do these compare to the CDT Midbass Drivers (other than the price is lower of course), have you compared the quality of the sound between the two?

These are PnP - how easy to wire in the CDT's to a Monsoon system?

Would these work with an aftermarket amp also?

KEE AUDIO

The main difference between the 2 are that the T/A subs are dual 4ohm voice coils and the CDT's are 4ohm single voice coil. The CDT's sound great. They do lose some low end volume because they are 4ohm and SVC. They do however make up for this with excellent sound quality and superior power handling capabilities. Basically if you had a new pair of stock speakers and a pair of the CDT's side by side, the stocker would be louder at lower volume than the CDT. When you start to turn the volume up the CDT would start to "catch up" and would surpass the stocker because you would have to stop turning the volume up on the stockers due to distortion and loss of sound quality.
The Bazooka is alot more like the stock sub in that it exactly matches the stock design (DVC). That's where the similarities end though. The Bazooka has a much beefier magnet, larger voice coil, better cone structure/design, hits lower frequencies than the CDT (Bazooka 39-1500Hz vs. CDT 50 ~ 5000 Hz) although the CDT has more range, the Bazooka is really a subwoofer more than a midbass driver.
The CDT's are just as easy to install, you would just use one pair of the wires going to the sail panel sub vs. both pairs. This would then match the 4ohm impedance of the CDT. The Bazooka's would take full advantage of the stock Monsoon amps dual voice coil format. Thus they should perform VERY well. I have not heard these yet side by side though as my car does not have 6.5" subs in the sails anymore nor do I have a 6.5" opening anymore. Mine are 8" CDT EF-8's in the sails ran by aftermarket power. Total overkill and I do not recommend this mod. Not that it doesn't work or sound great....it is just pure overkill and could probably be duplicated with a nice 6.5" driver.

Since the CDT is SVC and the bazooka is DVC, the bazooka is esentually using all the power available where as the CDT isnt

If you were in on the GP pricing, prior to it ending which it did at the beginning of the month, I will of course will honor this price for you. I already had one large shipment come and go. There were 2 threads on this, the other one was in the group purchases section. This was where I posted the ending of the GP pricing which was actually extended into the first week of the month. Like I said though, I will honor this pricing for those I received emails and PM's from prior to it ending.
I am just awaiting another shipment from SAS Bazooka on these. I actually expected it last week however Bazooka can't keep up with my demand at this point... I ordered 40 this time around which amounts to 20 pairs. There will be another 50 in reserve though. This has pretty much diminished anything they had. They usually don't have orders this big for them apparently. Specifically the DVC versions. The SVC versions are readily available. My shipment should arrive this week and they are supposed to supply me with a tracking number as soon as they ship.

So I take it that the GP is over? I will order a pair either way come Wed.

Do you have any of the Bazooka sail panel speakers available for shipment for the Firebirds? Is the price still $119.00? How much to ship to 53224?
Thanks

Crap, why didn't I see this a few days ago? :( Do you still have spacers available? I'd like to buy a pair of these with spacers. Let me know if you can do this. How much for shipping to 60516?

Hatchetman337

Kee's price of 119 is including shipping. You don't need spacers for them.

According to his thread http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=876757, you do.

That was based on the depth measurements before anyone tried them. It turns out they fit fine without spacers.

Ahh, cool. I haven't read that far into that thread yet. I'm reading a page or two every few hours.

I am awaiting my new shipment. 40 subs are having to be reshipped as they sent me 2ohm DVC instead of 4ohm DVC so I had to refuse the order. They were supposed to be reshipping them express but it looks like they sent them by camel. I will be posting up when they hit my doors.

Beerman07
05-05-2008, 10:06 AM
Are 40 that will be arriving spoken for already? If not, I would like to get an order placed. When ordering on your website, are you given the choice to choose between the Camaro version or the Firebird version?

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 10:24 AM
Would it be better to get a stealth box and a 10" or the 6.5 bazooka's?

Hatchetman337
05-05-2008, 10:35 AM
I think the 10" would give you more output and hit lower frequencies. I've ordered the bazookas, but I'm considering also doing a 10".

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 11:37 AM
The problem is,the 10 is going to have a separate amp and you can control the level on just the sub,if you use the 6.5's the head unit is controlling bass on all the speakers at the same time..I'm gonna probably go with a 10" I think..

Hatchetman337
05-05-2008, 12:07 PM
You've got a point there.

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 12:20 PM
You want crisp clean high's and your not going to get that if you don't have a separate sub.I'm going to put components in the doors, regulars in the sides and probably unplug the back ones..The 2 left rear speaker are blown..I'm going to probably order all my stuff from KEE..

Hatchetman337
05-05-2008, 12:25 PM
Just remember that if you put coaxials in the sail panels that you aren't going to get the highs out of them unless you don't power them through the monsoon amp.

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 12:38 PM
Really,I thought that is what everyone said to go with? I don't know much about coaxials to be honest..But everyone says they are the best..

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 12:44 PM
My bad..I meant components..arg..

Hatchetman337
05-05-2008, 01:58 PM
Well, components are what everyone is going with for the front doors, but for the sail panels, the ones next to the back seats. They are factory 6.5" subs, SVCs for camaros, DVCs for firebirds.

Irocem99
05-05-2008, 05:03 PM
When they said sail panels,I thought they meant the 2 in the rear...

Well fellas heres the news. I ordered 40 they shipped me 10 (5 pairs). All of which are spoken for as of now. Apparently, I am cleaning them out of every one they have. They usually do not sell a lot of these due to them being very reliable so they very rarely have orders for replacement. I killed their inventory over the last month and they are trying to get me more to not only fill the remainder of my order but to get me even more of them. For those who already have paid me for them those orders are going out today. Everyone else, I apologize but I am trying to get alot more in to get you taken care of as fast as I can. Until I have at least the remainder of my order in stock in my hands I will not be able to accept more orders on these. I WILL post up as soon as it arrives though!! Thanks guys!!

When will you know about the spacers?

KEE AUDIO
05-07-2008, 09:08 AM
Spacers for these are not needed. Originally I measured them and judging by the depth thought that they were necessary for these to fit properly but a few people installed them without the spacers and found they fit fine without them. I am still working with SAS Bazooka to try and get the rest of my order in but I am currently out of stock on them and don't want to accept any more payments on these until I have them in hand ready to ship. I will let everyone know when they arrive as I do have an outstanding order of 30 more that did not arrive with my last shipment.
