I have a 99 SS. I want to upgrade my sound system while keeping my factory head unit. I want to replace all the stock speakers and also need to buy a sub for my 10" stealth box. Can anyone recommend an amp that would be able to power all 6 speakers but not take up a lot of room at a descent price.? I already have a JBL BP1200.1 mono amp for my sub . I am looking for some quality speakers with reasonable prices. Any recommendations? I was browsing the Crutchfield website and they recommend a sound processor or something like that to tune the audio and make it sound better through the stock stereo. Is that something that would help or is it just hype. My budget is around 300-425max. Thanks for any info provided.

i would just go with a good 4 channel amp, eliminate the hatch speakers. Kicker 350.4 or jl 300/4. sound processor {eq} would help keep everything clean sounding and strong.

Honestly replacing the HU would be a better thing to do IMO. The stock headunit is the main cause of distortion in the factory stereo

The only reason I am keeping the stock head unit is to deter any thieves. I can probably spend a little more I just was hoping to keep it under $600. So rear hatch speakers aren't that important? I like Alpine a lot but that can be pricey. Any other recommendations for mids and highs? Subs? Thanks for the info.

I only have LoJack, that's it. I guess it looks like I'm going to have to get rid of my headunit. There's another couple hundred.

I carry several Alpine units now and they aren't that outrageous as far as price goes. Plus I could put together something with HU, speakers, and installation gear for the HU. I can put something together for you in your budget.
