So I wired it all up and it sounds really nice. Still got to finish coving the box. Sounds good and everything untill I start the car. Once running the sub started to tap. It does that constantly while the car is running. Im pretty sure it did it while the car was off too but I cant remember form being in a hurry to get to work. Once I got to work I just ripped out the remote wire becasue I didnt have any tools to take it out. But do any of you have an idea of what the tapping was?

I`m gonna take a stab at this. Sounds, maybe, like a bad ground some where and/or alternator whine. Where are your RCA`s routed? Are they routed along with your power cable for the amp? What is your headunit ground like and your amp ground?

Ok here is how it is ran.

power wire is ran through the firewall on pas. side.
It is grounded on the bolt that holds the back seatbelt on.
Remote wire is ran up to the front to the HU with the power wires.
RCAs are ran up the middle, around the sub, and then ran through the back carpet to the amp.
The speaker wire is ran from the other side with the amp along the rca plugs.

Maybe I shouldnt run the RCAs with the speaker wire?

What kind of RCA`s are you using? Do you get any headlight dimming when the bass hits?

Could possibly be cheap rca`s. Can`t really tell because we don`t know everything about your system. Why don`t you post up all the different components you have.

what size is your power cable and your ground cable. I never liked putting the ground on the seat belt mount like that. I prefer to mount it in it`s own spot.

The kit said it was 8g. But I am not sure. Its probably like triple the size of the speaker wire. Ill post a pic of it when I get home.

I just checked and it is 8g. Ill try a different ground and different RCAs. You think running the RCAs next to the speaker wire will mess it up?

Running RCA`s along with speaker wire is fine. What is your headunit grounded to or is it the stock head unit?

id redo ur amp ground before the rcas. sand down to bare metal and use a nut and bolt or self tappin screw

ok rewired everything. I went out and bought new RCAs and re-grounded the amp. Everything is fine now! Thanks!
