I'm looking at getting heads for my GTA. I am looking at Brodix ik180's and the Dart Pro 1's... both are priced about the same. Does anyone have an opinion on which are better? Thanks a lot for the help!

I would opt for the Dart Pro 1 Platinum heads. They are designed useing wet flow technology and have a decent gain over the older Pro 1's (according to CHP's engine dyno).

Out of those two I would get Dart's. Are you planning on doing any work to them or are they going to be as cast? I run RHS heads and as cast they are really good.

Dart gets my opinion, IK200s are better of course if you go with Brodix.

The Dart Pro 1 are very good heads right out of the box,
i would go with the Pro 1 Platiniumīs because of the wet flow tecnology they have manged to get a very good head even better.

will i be able to use heads with straight angle plugs on my 87 gta with shorty headers? because if i cant it eliminates the brodix because all i can find is straight angle for the brodix.
i am not planning on doing any work to them... atleast not right away. i am leaning towards the platinums, but it would make my decision easier if i knew if i can use straight angle heads.

i have decided to go with the dart pro 1 platinum 200's. now im thinking i should go with a bigger cam... i am thinking of upping my 224/230 dur 503/510 lift cam with an operating rpm range of 1,800-5,800 to one of the following:
- 230/236 dur, 510/520 lift, operating rpm range:2,200-5,800
- 236/242 dur, 520/540 lift, operating rpm range: 2,500-6,000
- 242/248 dur, 540/562 lift, operating rpm range: 2,800-6,100
all opinions are appriciated for the best cam to go with my heads!

What size motor? How much compression? How much does your GTA weigh? What is your rear gear ratio? Trans type, if it is a auto what stall converter? All of these things are important factors in picking out a cam to fit your needs.

its going to be a 383, dart pro 1 platinum 200's, 10.7:1 comp, it has 3:27 gears now possibly 3:73 in the future, 700r4 with a 2400 stall.
i changed my mind and decided to go with the comp xtreme fuel injected cam: 330/336 dur, 576/570 lift. I cant wait to get this beast running!

The .576/.570 lift is with 1.6 ratio rocker arms, if you are useing 1.5's you will only have .540/.534 lift. But with the wide LSA of the XFI cam I think that you would lose power over the older 230/236 cam with the .510/.520 lift, but still utilize the 1.6 rockers on this cam (.544/.555 lift). Personally, I would get a new 3000 stall converter, the gears, and a custom grind cam to help match your car components listed.

the LSA on the XFI cam is 113 and the other cam I was looking at had a dur of 224/230 with a LSA of 112, so not much difference in the LSA there. the other cams, with a 230/236 dur for example, all have LSA's of 110 deg and are not computer compatible.
cant i retard the timing to help out with the 113 LSA too?

Personally, I would get a new 3000 stall converter.
i've been hearing so many different opinions on what stall to get. comp recommends a 2200 stall with the XFI cam because the operating rpm range is 2000-6000 rpm. shouldn't I match the stall with the cam im getting?

Sorry, I didn't think that your 87' had fuel injection. The overlap of the cam is what usually dictates the computer compatability. It just depends on what injection system you are useing and the abilities of your tuner.
Retarding the timing will not change the LSA of the cam, it will just make it run lazy on the bottom end.

Run what ever helps you sleep at night. Why would you talk to a cam company about a TQ converter anyhow? Atleast call TCI and talk to one of the tech guy's there.

i say dart pro 1 platinum. just got mine in yesterday and comparing em to my old gm bowtie heads that were hogged out. these heads as cast have way bigger ports. btw i got the 237cc versions. and for the money its maximum bang for the buck. at 1300$ for the set i literally stole them. dunno what ill make now but they are going on a 13.5.2 cr solid roller 406 that thing will scream now.
