Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - some opinions please?

so im in the process of rebuilding a 350 for my 83 monte carlo, but i want to get some more power out of the 305 that is in it now. I have a edelbrock 2102 cam and lifters that i was going to put in over the weekend but a friend told me that it will cause problems with the stock heads and pistons. Will it?

Possibly, i dont know the specs of that cam but if it is over 470 lift i would worry about the springs binding and retainers bottoming out on the seals. Put some N2O on the damn thing and be done with it till the next one is ready:)
