I am debating what to do with my car currently its an lt1, and I dont know if I want to rebuild it or go all out with a big block.... My goal is 6-700Hp at the wheels with nitrous... not worried about bein a daily driver. car is weekend only/track

I'd do a 540-572 with off the shelf parts for max power. Maybe 850hp without additional portwork and exotic parts? Adding 100-600hp is just a single fogger kit away. That should clear 700 at the wheels any day.:)

If it's a driver, you'd scale back the cam/compression and maybe shoot for 700-750N/A and add to that. Goodluck!

This is a cool 20-40 grand to do it all nicely. It's going to need a stout drivetrain behind it along with serious suspension mods. You can't just drop big power in a car and call it a day...Oh wait! you can but those are called show cars. Instead of drivetrain mods you buy a lot of mirrors for the ground and wierd jackstands covered in carpet, etc, etc. :D Scrap the HVAC and install a Flex-A-Lite Mojave under the dash somewhere...I love mine! And Rain-X the windshield everytime you wash the car. Wipers are a thing of the past.:D

Brady's done about everything cool to a 4th gen that is possible. Search his posts, websites, links, and maybe even his personal belongings. You'll find trial, error, pics, video, and a few jokes here and there. :)

If you are already invested in the LTx platform(like some of us) go with a big inch LSx and do not look back ;)

If you are going racing then do the Big Block ;)

I would also consider the cost of the build. BB's can get quite expensive to set up right.

a BBC will require a after market K member and motor plates and mid plate if your smart..... will also require custom headers ~1000$+... then youll need a manual rack and a custom custom cell and new fuel pump cause carb'd motors need volume not high pressure.... if converting to a BBC you will spend close to 15k$.... a lot of the little shit adds up fast.... not to mention a new tranny and new converter... thats 2K$ right there... then a shifter-150$... modified oil pan to fit new k member- 150$+... then a new starter 175$+ then a new fly wheel+100$... then all new fuel lines and fittings 150$+
if you have a big carb and intake then youll need a new hood 300$+ and then paint it and fabricate dzus fasteners 300$+

list goes on and on

things add up real fast... i know this cause im doing it right now... but its also a race car and it cost more....

I'm going with what I told the other guy.

All out track only, then go BBC. Once you do all the mods to make it fit, you can go as wild as you want in the future.
Street only or mostly, SBC. Fits right in & you're set.

Go with a 454 on the juice. You can build a stock 454 with H/C/I and then throw a 150-200 shot on top to get your hp goals and it will be cheaper than an all out LT1. Fuel injection or carb won't matter, will just have to get the right regulator, but with a carb you will have to cut more. Use the HK-2455 ($150) headers and re-route the #7 primary so you don't have to beat on the firewall and they also clear your steering linkage.

From my experience, i will never play with a damn LTx again, optis suck and LSx makes more power. Thats just me, big block dumdumdum!

Really all depends on how deep your pockets are.
Like already mentioned, BBC parts are higher in $ than a SBC or LT1 parts, so def. take that into consideration. To save you on some money, you could convert your LT1 over to a carb setup and run a regular drop in dist. It will take a little bit of "custom fab" work but its doable.
