My brother just bought a 2000 Firehawk and when your driving it sounds like someone is playing with the fade and volume on the radio. Its realy anoying. How can it be fixed>?

My Monsoon HU did this. Try using ONLY the steering wheel controls to adjust the volume. If the volume works fine, no fade, then it's the Monsson HU causing it.

I take it the volume it goings up and down as he give it gas :). That would be the speed control, as you go faster the volume goes up and visa versa. I think you just need to hold the volume button in for 10sec's. It says in the manual.

No... Its not that, anyway I didnt think pontiacs had that system, just chevys. Anyway its screwy when the car is just sitting there at idle.

Basically its bad connections. My old home stereo did this, I would have to go through and spray the volume knob (after taking it off) with this stuff that restores that bad connection (but I'd be doing it every month or so as it would come back).

I would turn the knob to turn up the volume and it would jump up and down in surges, and sometimes just out of the blue it would be loud then go back to reg volume right away.

Pontiacs never have had speed compensated volume. Only the Chevy's got it. Ditto with the bad connections.
