Just do a google search for 4 inch 4 ohm car speakers.
IMO, I would not spend over $30 a pr. You should be able to get factory replacement ones for about $12 a pr.
If you have a aftermarket radio in your car IMO just leave the out.
After i replaced my factory radio 8 years ago in my Z28 I just pulled them out . And I've never regreted it .

Or better yet - search these forums. Sail panel speakers are one of the most discussed topics.
EDIT: Not sure how poster above things you'll find these new factory at $12 a pair....and I don't understand why an aftermarket HU is reason to leave them out. What logic in saying "I have an aftermarket HU, so I should just leave factory speakers disconnected."

I think 99BluZ28 was thinking of the hatch speakers ("4 inch 4 ohm") rather than the sail panel subs the OP asked about.

I have a new shipment of the replacement Bazookas coming in Tuesday. These are DVC replacement woofers that work very well with the stock Monsoon system sail panel woofers that came in the Firebirds.

6.5 2 way components in the doors, 6.5 2 ways in the sail panels and 4 inch 2 ways or 2 way components in the hatch. I went with Infinity Referance and all just bolted in with no modification. Be careful in the hatch as the factory speakers are rivited in. Just drill the head off the rivits and your good.

Somebody must have done a repair job before you - even the service manual says to remove the speaker bolts and the bolts are listed in the parts manual.

No they are riveted in the hatch. Ive done 3 pairs. I found it odd too tho.

Yes, they are riveted in the hatch but not in the sail panels. I should have said I've never seen any full size speakers mounted with rivets.

I believe he said hatch speakers specifically.. not sails

Only the hatch speakers were rivited in place. The front and sail panel speakers were all bolted in place

Follow this suggestion - I just picked up a pair and installed them. Much, much better than stock - easy install - and inexpensive. What more could you want?

Yes they are. I believe the hole pattern is a little different but they fit in the stock opening and are DVC just like the stock subs. They have a much bigger magnet, thicker treated foam surround, and a nice stiff cone structure. Definete improvement over stock. Priced at $119.00 for a pair shipped and available on my website in the wrong section...lol. They are in the midbass drivers section. I will be fixing that soon. They are subwoofers though.

A 12" subwoofer in a stealthbox... And $119 for a pair of 6.5" subwoofers is not a good deal comparatively when you can get $30 10" subs that'll do a better job. Add that to the cost of a stealthbox and you're not that much above $119. It'll take some wire rerouting, but it can be done.

For the record factory replacements that will blow out again and are made of the same materials as before are $99.45 for the pair. The eD 7Kv.2 subwoofers are $130.00 + shipping for a pair. Mine are priced at $119.00 shipped for the pair. So I think my pricing for 1 only 3 made DVC 6.5" subs is quite reasonable.
I understand what your saying as far as a larger sub making more bass but alot of the guys buying these are not looking for that kind of bass performance.
With a stealth box you have more to purchase as well. $30.00 for the sub. $70.00- $100.00 for an enclosure. $100.00+ for an amp, $25.00 for a wiring kit. Obviously this is a rough estimate and bass output would be more than a 6.5" sub but I still think you'd give up a certain amount of sound quality with a $30.00 subwoofer.

...The eD 7Kv.2 subwoofers are $130.00 + shipping for a pair....plus MDF and fabrication time. The eD subs sound great and I'm very happy with them but, if I had it to do over, I would give serious consideration to using the Bazooka subs.

You can certainly use the stock Monsoon amp with a stealthbox. A 10" or 12" sub can be a LOT more efficient than the 6.5" ones meaning you'll get even better performance with the same amp. You can of course find many subwoofers that trade the efficiency for other things such as depth, so you'd want to avoid those with a small amp. The price difference isn't really that much; it's just an extra hour or two of work to hook it up.

You could use a stock Monsoon amp on a 10" sub but I still wouldn't think you'd get great sound out of it. Granted this is speculation at best but I'm thinking the stock Monsoon amp pushes all of 50watts RMS to each of those subs so about 100watts total RMS. This is enough to run an efficient sub.
This would be a good experiment to see how well it really works.
What would you think...something along the lines of a MTX 4500 225W rms, sens: 90.74dB? Or something even cheaper? Powerbass PB1044 150W RMS, sens: 88.7dB. Pioneer TS-W252R 120W RMS, sens: 90dB
How would you wire it, one pair from each side to each voice coil? Guess it would be easier with a Camaro Monsoon system.
In any case it would be an interesting thing to try.

Well, if you're REALLY on the cheap, I'd go with something like a Goldwood GW-410D. It's dual 4-ohm. I don't think it's probably a good idea to use DVC speakers to "sum" L+R channels like that, though personally, given the low power and cheapness of the system, I'd probably not worry too much about it. A 12" would be much better if you don't mind trimming some plastic (which I still haven't done for the box I got from you, though now that it's getting warm, I will probably work some more on it soon) because the bigger the speaker, the more efficient (generally).
Going with a cheap but efficient sub will still give you the ability to easily upgrade to a much better subwoofer (and an amp later) should you want to without having dumped a lot of money into the then old setup.
