Notice the 6 bolt lug pattern and STB too. Oh and the 6600rpm redline. :burn: :)

I thought this was kinda crazy for a Caddy. I have an LS6 and while it idles relatively smoothly, it still has a little jiggle to it while sitting still....so much so that new clueless owners have complained about a "vibration". I just thought it was a little out of whack for a caddy to be so "unrefined".......But I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it'll probably have its own camshaft to lower NVH. Maybe its own intake too since the cowl height is probably different :)
The claims I've heard are 400 hp, compared to the 405 for the Z06. Could just be BS numbers, or it could actually have 5 hp less due to a milder cam.
Prossibly have thicker exhaust manifolds and valve covers too, to help dampen the mechanical noise.

It should be interesting. The claimed loss of 5 hp was due to intake restrictions....I doubt the will put a different cam in it.

The first tests of the CTS V are hitting the newstands this month. Still no independent performance numbers, but Cadillac is saying 4.7 to 60 and top speed of 171 at redline in 5th. (though it may be limited to 155mph - LS1 edit to the rescue?)
Numbers:
$47,000 (estimated - Cadillac says 10,000 to 12,000 more than a regular CTS)
400 hp @ 6000 rpm
390 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
3833 lb
245/45/ZR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1
In showrooms near you by November or December
Laps the Nurburgring in 8 min 19 seconds with John Heinricy behind the wheel, quicker than the current M3 has been able to do.
Motor Trend, Road and Track, Automobile all have articles on it this month(in their September issues). Haven't gotten C&D in the mail yet, they probably will too.
Motor Trend noted somthing predicted above - that the LS6 has a trace of idle instability due to the cam, but they followed that with "some buyers might like the slight idle bobble".
Everyone said the shifter is a bit rubbery, not as good as the one in the V6 CTS. And the interior isn't as nice as an Audi or BMW. But I think we knew that going in. And those are the only complaints they have - So overall, the car is great, and looks like M5 size and performance for an M3 price.

This is the first and only Caddy, I've ever liked...does this mean I'm getting old?

I'm betting this thing doesn't sell for a dime under $55K

Well, with options and a bit of price gouging, you could be right.
C&D reports it will definitely base under $50,000.
Known options, with prices extrapolated from regular 2004 CTS pricing:
Navigation ~500 (yep, it's only $500 more to get Bose + Nav over just the Bose)
Sunroof ~1200
XM ~325
Carbon Fiber engine cover ~ $500?
Carbon Fiber strut tower brace ~ $300?
Lets assume that all of them are hard loaded. So 50,000 + Nav + Sunroof + XM = 52025. The Carbon fiber stuff could cost $2000 and we're still only at $54,025.
Sure, some dealers will be tacking on an "ADP" to the factory sticker. But there are enough Cadillac dealers out there that I bet you can find one who isn't gouging.

I really like the car but for that price i still would probably pick the M3 over it.

The latest AutoWeek has a great write up this car. Never thought I'd want a Caddy! But this thing kicks ass!
Great quote from a GM exec talking about using the LS6 motor in this car: "We want to be recognized for having the best performance powertrains in the world, and that's the bottom line."

My thoughts exactly... My dad's lease on his Caddy Deville is up next March and I'm trying to pressure him to get the V-series. He already wants the CTS, and digs the power of the V... he just needs a little "motivation" (read blinding test-drive). :D

Even though M3 costs a good 10k more, is slower, smaller, and doesn't handle as well, and dare I say gets worse gas mileage? This my friend is the M5 killer.

I've been watching this car from it's inception and love it. At least this car's market and intent is clear, unlike the new GTO which I think is suffering from an identity crisis.
I read GM only downgraded the HP rating because the Corvette Engineers complained; who also didn't want it the Caddy in the first place. So thre shouldn't be any mechanical differences.

Its great because GM is starting ctach up, who knows, maybe the 2055 F-body will be based of this plat form.
