nissan wouldnt be allowed to use the ohc setup. thing is the other manufacturers would tell nascar to fuck off after toyota using parts of designs. not only that but i think toyota is only equal to the others which is why its been a 4 way war on wheels.
final count... 51 lead changes between 20 drivers.

So ? Whats to keep Nissan from building a pushrod engine like Toyota did to meet Nascar's specs ?

manufacturers learning from the mistake of letting toyota see their designs. nissan would have to design an engine from scratch with no inside knowledge. something toyota got a huge break on when they went to each manufacturer and took aspects of each... most of which came from dodge.
also, they have to hve a certain number of plants in the us too be allowed in the series

You seriously think the big 3 had an open house and let Toyota come over and check everything out? Do you think all teams and MFG's dont steal.. or get ideas from each other? regardless of nationality... you guys are bitchin about shit thats been going on since the sport started...60 years ago... If any other MFG comes in it's going to be Honda...This isnt a race to put someone on Mars... its a race program people can be bought... I get a kick out the ideas people get like this is nation security...read way way way to much into this..

I give this series 5 years until it is just another boring spec TOY show. :(
Hey we are handing them our auto industry lock, stock and barrel, I guess everyone also feels they should get ALL of our racing series as well??
I am actually glad viewership is down (less free advertising for TOY). Helton-piggy and company deserve it!!
And DAMN would I love to tell that f*** Dee Dubya (and his pompous azz younger bro) to STFU, and "boogity, boogity, boogity" away on his TOY's cock!!
Oh well, at least there is the AMLS where I will still be able to see a domestic nameplate win (turning left AND right, and showing the import fanboyzz thet we CAN do their "twisties").

Thats the thing though the TV ratings are up, but attendance is down obviously since the ridiculous price of gas makes it impossible to attend anything. It does bother me also that toyota is running in nascar, it has always been about American car companies. And i agree with you about DW and MW, you would think they were born and had their racing careers started by toyota. I understand you got to stand by your sponsor, but talk about them like its god.

no i dont, i just think they were persuaded to be more open than they wanted to be by nascar. toyota didnt really have to design an engine from scratch when u have a corporate spy in bill davis and have the nascar organization giving you the chance to check out other operations. i know its been going on since racing began... doesnt take away from how crappy it is. toyota has a shitty rep in the racing world for a reason.

He worked for a TOY Craftsman Truck team (maybe still does), so I expect him to defend them to the hilt, right or wrong.
Just as I expect those on here who work for them at their Tundra plant to do the same.

Maybe, but Dave (DeSpain) claims that is purely speculative rumor and nothing else, so who knows??
Besides, since he's stated that he would only leave IF he could be equal partners in the team he would be joining, I seriously doubt he has the coin to be 'halves' in Hendrick even if Rick was willing.

Fair enough.
But then please don't claim that TOY does not have the trillions to give to their teams for said secret wind tunnel tests and 7 posters, etc. to gain an 'unfair'/disallowed advantage.

Ummm I dont see how windtunnel or a 7 post is a disallowed or unfair advantage.. Haas/hendrick will have their own windtunnel by years end.. they along with everysingle major team has had a 7 post for quite sometime now...The huge aero advantages are GONE.... its all up to suspension geometry, what limited area there is as well a the guy holding the steering wheel...Im not going to argue the financial aspect.... but then again Hendrick Roush Penske RCR arent running out of money anytime soon....its racing not the spread of communisum...

Well your right about one thing . There's not a dime's worth of difference between cup car's of tomorrow except the engines and the front bumper decals . What a waste ! If that's not the biggest crock of shit . In old school days it was all about the CARS man . Not those cry babies that drive em . Hell , today the drivers seem to be unable to control themselves during the last five or ten laps and continuously wreak everybody else . I mean shit , its like that at every fu*kin race . They never have a green flag finish anymore . Nascar has ruined stock car racing ! If Dave Dispain could speak off the record he would agree and so would a lot of other people !

Yes, the 7 poster statement was a bad example, but dosen't NASCAR have a stated limit for wind tunnel useage (just like actual track testing), even if they cannot patrol/enforce it???! I always thought this was part of their cost cutting measures to allow the poorer teams at least a minute chance?
Also, can't they still use the tunnels to test/see how the aero is affected/effected with different bump stops/suspension settings, etc.???
You honestly think that their unlimited funds/resources had nothing at all to do with them (TOY teams) finding up to an additional 35 hp over ALL of the domestic teams (EVEN the "best" ones)????!!!! :nono:
IF you do there is a really pretty bridge about 20 miles from here you might be interested in buying?
Yes, the big domestic teams are not "running out of money anytime soon", but they still do not have 1/1000th of the possible budget, input, disposable income, available engineering staffs, etc. that the TOY teams have available to them.

You're right about Dave.
He's already gone on record as HATING spec series with mandated identical powerplants/chassis (like in the U.S. open wheel series, whatever it's to be called now).
He's gone on record to say that some of the greatest innovations have come about from Indy's past when there was A LOT of leeway/room for free thought allowed in the rules!!
Sorry, but spec series (like NASCAR is quickly becoming, and TOY has a way of forcing) SUCK for top level professional motorsports!!!

No, there isnt or shouldnt be a ban or limit on windtunnel testing, there shouldnt be a ban or limit on race track testing its auctually cheaper than 7 post or wind tunnel time( I know this as fact) Windtunnel testing dosent have anything to do with suspension the attitude of the car is minuplated while the car is blown.. 7 post SIMULATES track conditions although is not always backed up on a track..The cheapest and best way to test is renting a track and testing auctual set ups, just because the laptop says its best it isnt always the case...Auctual testing would benifit the smaller teams atleast the ones that are left...more than simulation testing
The Hp claim is narrower than belived....Chevys new R07 runs very well hopefully Ford will get a new package in 09 or 10 And Dodge is doing well...Toyota didnt find more Hp they brought it to the party and like others they make it better constantly....Its not much different than what GM did with the Caddys and C5R's Came in kicked everyones ass and had the others crying foul...

Isn't that wild. I guess when you think about it, Chrysler used Mitsu engines and owned a big junk of Mitsu for a long while. So its not that big of a stretch, with the Chrysler/Nismo thing. Whats funny is the Engineers at Nissan think so little of Chrysler and any other OEM besides Toyota and Honda:burn:.
