That wouldn't suprise me at all, considering the way gas has been going up. One minute gas in my area is set, then with 24 hours it has jumped 6 or 7 cents. Sometimes it will even jump close to 10 cents, its absolute bullshit. And every day when you check out the news its has to do with some hostiles in Africa, or some refinery thats not pumping, or more bullshit. Worst part is we haven't had any severe hurricanes in a while in South Fl. But got forbid another one hits gas is going to jump even more, and then we will just get the run around then some more useless excuses on why it jumped.

Stopping the flow of oil to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve could be a mistake!!!!

US goverment is only paying $27.73 per barrel for oil going into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.(60,000 barrels per day)

Strategic Petroleum Reserve is not the answer. (http://www.newser.com/story/25458.html)

Drive less and cross your fingers that people who don't actually need trucks, crossovers or SUVs abandon them en masse.

7 dollars sure that could easily happen. All I hope for is that all these electric cars start coming out. All small cars switch to that then the demand will have to go down which will send prices back down too. Hell I would be just happy to be paying 3 bucks and have it stay there. What suck most about it is the fact that you just don't know what they will be. It blows and we are all screwed if things don't change. Common switch grass!!!

It will finally force us to get off of foreign oil, Thank God!!! Why give nearly a billion US dollars every day to ppl that hate us? We can get off of this stuff and be self sufficient on our own fuels (including oil). Spend that one billion a day on energy Americans make. Can you imagine the good jobs (that would not be going anywhere) that wind, sun, and nuclear power could make? It would be a boom for our economy.

What about that massive oil field they found in the dakotas? Supposed to be the equivalent to the one they found in saudi arabia in 1939. This was just recently, if thats true I highly doubt it will get that high.

Holy christ! They finally invented time travel and someone went ahead in the future and found this out for us!? Friggen kudos to them!:eyes:

I recall two years ago gas was suppose to already be at $5 a gallon by this time... or is that this summer it is going to happen? Or did it already happen but we all fell asleep and missed it and they dropped back already?

Aren't these analyst the same ones that all said crap like "John Kerry will win by a landslide!" Than after the fact there is the crap of "oh we left out a small miscalculation..." :eyes:

Land of the free, and i love and thank God for the position im in in the US, but these Gas prices are stupid.... It will get to the point (unless a alternative) these cars wont be around but just for those who make $$...

Actually.. i need to add something.. I drove my 01 SS procharged m6 back to school this week.. I couldnt believe with 660 crank hp, and 543 rwhp- i got 26.89 mpg.. So take that 7 dollars per gallon!! lol

yes but we must make sure to do it after we have used all of the oil in the middle east first. then, we build giant walls around our country and share with no one. or we finally bomb russia and claim it our own! call it USSA! lol.

1. Tap Alaska
2. Tap the Dakotas
3. Tap the Rockies (haha)
4. Give middle eastern countries the finger
5. Promote switchgrass ethanol
6. Continue pushing for alternative fuels/transportation means
7. Increase, nuclear, solar, and wind power stations
8. Require that people take an extra driving test in order to but an suv or truck. Most of the people i see lumbering along the highway at 19mpg are house wives and soccer moms. People that really need the truck/suv will have to take the hit on this one.

I'm sure there are other things but that is what i could come up with quickly. And i firmly believe that washington is a part of the problem because they do more talking that actual legislating. I'm not saying that this particular administration is to blame or president bush, all i'm saying is that washington has become a fat bloated pig of a government, and they'd rather line their pockets that help help the country that they've sworn to make better.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

From the same article:

Gas price: It's all about government policy. Gasoline costs roughly the same to make no matter where in the world it's produced, according to John Felmy, chief economist for the American Petroleum Institute. The difference in retail costs, he said, is that some governments subsidize gas while others tax it heavily.

In many oil producing nations gas is absurdly cheap. In Venezuela it's 12 cents a gallon. In Saudi Arabia it's 45.

The governments there forego the money from selling that oil on the open market - instead using the money to make their people happy and encourage their nations' development.

Obviously a LOT of the problem is that we IMPORT oil and a lot of it. Tapping new fuel sources and new oil sources is the only way prices are going to come back down.

And don't listen to the B$ about win-fall profit taxes on the oil companies....
If they do that.... it won't help YOU... it will help the government. YOU will not see ANY or very little of it. In the end, it will only drive the price up any way.

The price right now is artificially high because of the fu*kin speculators on wall street. Its past due for a BIG correction .
And when it finally comes watch it drop like a lead balloon.
Right now we are all getting fucked at the pump by everybody & anybody even remotely connected to big oil . From the ******** to the mom & pop gas stations . They all know that they got us over a barrel ,so get the vasoline out and just grin and bare it for the time being .

^^^^You are right on that one.... Market speculation is causing some of the cost increases.... Though....I doubt there will be a market correction unless there is an increase in supply.

Maybe we could all buy Exxon stock.... if you owned enough... your dividend payments might off set your cost in gas... that is until when it does drop and you lose your as$ in your stock investment:lol:

I absolutely agree with all of your points except that I think ethanol is horse shit and was only pushed because Iowa had the first caucus.

kozak

I agree ethanol is shit especially ethanol from corn, because it has something like half the potential energy of gasoline. However at the end of last year I started reading articles on switchgrass ethanol. It produces something like 5 time more energy that ethanol synthesized from corn (some one please check my facts) and switch grass is almost like a weed so it is very easy to grow. Ethanol is just a bandaid anyways, but it would be a good supliment to gas if it was pushed correctly. The real key for the near future (next 10 years) is drilling new wells in alaska, and the dakotas to help break our dependency on foreign oil.
