Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - fuelie head questions

i have some questions that i hope you guys can answer

i wasnt really sure where to put this question, but i think this is the best place

i have a 327 out of a 67' impala ss

can anyone tell me the valve sizes they put on the 462 heads on this year?

im assuming since it was the ss, they used the 202 and 160 valves, but im not gonna say anything until i know for sure

also, can anyone give me ANY info you have about the 462 heads?

i am doing google searches and everything, but all the info i can get would be great

i think the 462 are the 2.02/1.60. there a decent head. i just ported a set of 461 with 2.02 and flowed actually pretty well . they were the best head back in the day.

thanks, but IIRC the 462 came in two different valve sizes, 194 and 202 for intake, and 150 and 160 for exhaust

you might be right. either way you can put 2.02's in it. and blend the bowls in.

A 462 casting from a '67 Impala came stock with 1.940 intake valves and 1.50 exhaust valves. The valve sizes can be enlarged but they would have come stock with those sizes.

im actually just trying to find out more about the engine i have

how do the 462's flow compared to all of the different fuelie heads?

i have seen people say they are the worst flowing, and i have seen people rate them as the best flowing out of all of them

lets say these are the stock heads/valve size (even though i would not be surprised if they have the bigger heads) but how much hp do you guys think this engine is getting:

its a 327 out of a impala ss 67' bore/stroked to a 355:

weiand xcellerator intake (high rise)
long tube headers
comp cam 280h cam (.480 lift, 280 duration)
block milled down, 12.5:1 comp
holley 600cfm carb (once i get the money a 750 is going on there)
crappy accel HEI (once again, when i get some money a msd pro billet and 6al box is goin in there)

i understand im not gonna get an exact estimate, but just a rough one would be great

They were good for the day, but almost everything these days outflow them by far! I used to run the fuelies before the after market supplied good inexpensive heads, early 80's in my case. I ran the bottle back then and would crack fuelie heads left and right.

Unless you are using them as is, they will just cost you more money in the long run.

they are just on the 69' camaro im restoring.. just wanted to find a bit out about the engine

once i fix the body and get it driveable is when i will start to do engine work

but for now they will do ;)

dealing with the specs above, can anybody give me an estimate of the HP potential this engine would have?
