i have a 350 with flat tops, a tpi that is being converted to a LT1 manifold and a roller cam with 212/218 duration and 488/495 lift and 1.6 rocker arms, i need some decent heads that i can spray later on, right now i have a set of ported 64cc truck heads that dont flow s*** and the tpi system is not helping either, my compression ratio right now is about 9.2:1 i would like to go a bit higher like 10:1 or so, i was thinkin maybe a 62cc head??

i found these online and wanted your opionion

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130228471839&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003

please recommend and keep in mind i dont wanna have to spend a ton on just the heads there are other parts that i would like to get as well!!

I hear the pro comp products are junk but the heads LOOK good. I wonder if they might work OK for the price. I would use a set of vortec heads and have them drilled for the older intake bolt pattern like you have. Would work VERRY well. Tons of torque.

SDPC2000.com sells modifed Vortec heads for use with bigger cams like you described. They come with bigger springs, cut guides, etc. They will keep your compression the same(64cc) and 9.2:1 is a good amount or a pump gas iron head street engine. LT1 intake should blt right on, right? Same vortec pattern? I'd shoot for a 220/230'ish duration cam with a bit more lift but that's just my 2 cents.

the vortec heads are an option BUT i heard that the ports are wayyyy bigger than the lt1 intake so the lt1 intake wont work with them so i would need a base for the head taht work w/ my tpi setup. I dont want tpi anymore. lol the lt1 is a cheap upgrade

The LT1 intake will work, it is the TPI intake that is WAY out to make it work. The bolt pattern is different but the LT1 pattern can be cut into the vortec heads and made to work.

the reason why i said that is because i modified my intake by what it says on LT1INTAKE.COM and under FAQs this is what i found

"Will the LT1 intake fit Vortec heads?

No, it will not fit. The intake mating flange is too narrow to cover the tall ports that the Vortec head uses. Here's a cutaway picture http://www.lt1intake.com/images/vortec1.jpg with a standard SBC intake mated to Fastburn heads. Fastburn heads are drilled with both standard SBC and Vortec bolt patterns.

The LT4 intake will not fit Vortec heads either. This is due to the Vortec bolt pattern being way too high on the head for the intake. The LT4 intake can be adapted to Fastburn heads because they are drilled for both standard and Vortec bolt patterns. So an LT4 intake would still require a bolt pattern change to std gen1. Some port matching on the LT4 intake will be required when using Fastburn heads."

I thought vortec heads had "LT1" style intake runners, no wonder they are better i guess.
