I have a hot 383 in the truck with a mechanical water pump that I want to switch for a electric water pump. I'm running 11:1 compression with AFR heads. How much gmp do I need? Its a weekend vehicle but I do drive it when I want. It does go to the track some times(once every 3 months) but mostly Sunday driven. I'm guessing more the better but where should I be looking at least....35 or 55? I've researched this but only could find what people think about them in general or what was the best brand. Thanks.

.

My 2 cents, leave alone. ~10 HP is not worth the expense.
It would suck to lose an electric pump 30 miles from home.

For a street car I would go for the 55. I have one on my Trans Am that I bought mainly for the horsepower. However one pleasant side affect is that it also runs cooler.

Yea, I was thinking 55 as well but CSR has a 60 that's about $18 cheaper on summit than the meziere or CSR 55 gpm. So, I might get the 60 since its cheaper. Any complaints on the CSRs or is Meziere a better pump?

Since its just a weekend toy, I didn't figure it would hurt anything to get one so I can flush the coolant around when it sits for a little while with a manual switch.
