will a monsoon cd player out of a 00 z28 work in a 1998 ck 1500 pick up?

Yes, as long as it physically fits. I would assume that the truck has a 1.5 DIN dash opening like most GM products of that period, so it should fit fine. There is nothing special about Monsoon head units - they're just the same Delco units as in other models except for the Monsoon label on the face.
