thanks, that helps. my DRL's don't work either, so perhaps someone disabled them? and in the process shut off my front blinkers?

If they disabled the DRL by simply disconnecting the connector from the DRL module behind the radio, then yes, that is the problem.

My passenger side blinker and DRL don't work. The light does work when my lights are on, but the blinker does not work on the passenger side. Also, the light works when I lock the car and the lights flash. The socket does look dark and burnt. I have put in two new bulbs with lots of dielectric grease.....the first time I try the flasher it blinks slow and the DRL does not work. Will installing a new socket fix this? Does anyone have a writeup on how to install a new socket. I did do a search reviewing probably a hundred posts for about two hours last night.....Thanks!

I just went through the whole "left front turn signal won't blink" routine. Here's what I did and what I found out.

1. If you get a solid non-blinking arrow on the dash, it probably isn't the bulb. The signal will flash fast if your bulb is burned out.

2. If your hazards blink, it isn't the flasher fuse.

3. The front sockets will usually looked burned for some reason. A replacement socket from the dealer costs $70. A replacement socket from AZ is $8. If you don't want to cut the leads, the white plastic insert comes out of the gray socket and you just replace that part by carefully using a small screwdriver and needle nose pliers.

4. If your bulb is burned out, the replacement is 3057. I use Sylvania instead of cheaper ones because the base on a cheaper brand was practically melted off in one socket.

5. There is a way you can check to see if your DRL module is bad. Here's the link.

After I did this, I took mine out and opened the box and found where the "funny" electrical smell was coming from. One of the soldered links was melted for some reason. A replacement from the dealer cost $300. I got a used one from eBay for $40. The part number is 10407669.

you have to spliced the new one in.

its easy all you have to do is cut 1 wire at a time if you want and wire it to the new socket.
you can get the socket at autozone for $8.

You can also just replace the white insert if you don't want to cut the wires.

you are talking about the DRL module, right? It's $192 @ GM parts direct.

I guess I need to buy a new socket at AutoZone and see if that works.....BTW I had NO water in my turn signal light, it was bone dry.

Yep, that's the one. Better than the dealer price, but still a lot of cash. I usually don't buy used electronic parts but for $40 I'll take the risk. BTW, here's what it looks like. If you look carefully, you can see the burned solder:

(oh yeah, the DRL is right behind the radio. CAREFULLY pull the HVAC/Radio bezel off, a few screw from the radio mount and there it is, mounted on the firewall.).

Right side turn signal didn't work. Replaced bulb and socket, didn't work. Used circuit tester at switch under dash, checked out okay. Used "jumper" method mentioned in link in post #10, worked. Took out DSL module, smelled burned, took it apart, noticed burned solder on circuit board (see top pic above, middle right side of board.)
