Stereo & Electronics - Volume Goes Up When I Turn Knob Down

I have the factory monsoon system. Occasionally (5-6 times a month) I'll turn the volume knob counterclockwise to turn it down and the volume actually goes up instead. It always immediately stops right after it happens on one turn and usually doesn't happen again that day. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there's anything I should check. It can get kind of annoying if I want to turn the radio down quite a bit when pulling up to a drive thru and it cranks up to ricer rap levels.

Same here. It's weird. I have to go back and forth a little to get it going in the right direction.

Wow same here as well. I have to move it slowly side to side to lower the volume and move it fast to go higher... but thats what steering wheel controls are for. I also just replaced it with a double din so no more of that

Maybe the knob is on backwards ;-)

there is a post somewhere on this, the connectors are dirty and you can clean them to solve the problem, you need to pull the face off the hu though

Mine does same thing. Just use the street wheel controls instead.

That must be why the previous owner wore the markings off the steering wheel volume control. I will add cleaning the connectors to my winter to do list.

Look thru an electronics catalog or maybe a Radio Shack. Look for Electronics Contact cleaner. It's a couple $$, but it'll make the cleaning easier. Might only have to spray it down without wiping.
