Stereo & Electronics - 6x9s into the back

i'd really like to get some pioneer 6x9s i have into the stock mouniting location of the back 6.5s speaker's of my 93 Z28 is this possible cause my buddy's old 3rd gen tran's am he did it but the size jjust doesnt look like it'll fit. Any insight or advice appreciated

Third gen F-bodies came stock with 6x9's in the sail panel area. Putting a pair of those in your sails would be taking a step backward quite honestly. A nice 6.5" speaker will outperform a 6x9 speaker anyway.
Alot of guys have stuff laying around and want to use it because they already have it. Understandable!! In this case you'd be better off purchasing the right speaker rather then cutting into your car to make an outdated speaker work. You would have to cut the sail panel area to make those fit in that location.

My buddy put 6x9's in there. You have to cut and make it custom tho. His sound good, but then again his dad is a car stereo guy so he had lots of good input of how to do it.


I personally would just stick with the size that was there in the first place.
