I know this is probably a silly question but where does the relocation kit move the coil packs too? Also, what do you mean by "custom length", I thought these wires are made by MSD?

The relocation kit moves them under the cowling. There are pictures of it in the sale thread.

The MSD boot is muti-directional so it can be bent at any angle you want. Also with the long ger wires they wioll come in from the side and not down from the top so that will assist in keeping them away as well.

I have use the same brackets and they sit in the open battery well , unless you've got 2 batteries, but most dont unless they have a diesel. Then your decision is in front of the engine or along the firewal for the 4 wires going to the opposite side. I have piftail extensions for the coil harness to you all set there as well. Just let me know what side you battery is one and firewall or radiator for the routing. The kit is more money than the fbody as the wires are longer and you need the coil harness pigtails.

My order just arrived today, that was pretty fast . I do have one question about the plugs; I received the IT Laser Iridium plugs, what is the difference between them and the IX series? Is there a big difference in quality or performance? NGK states the IT series is an OEM plug and list the IX series for performance. Thanks for any input.

No big deal, I really didnt know that there were two types of iridiums. I thought all of the iridiums were the IX. There site actually list both as Laser iridiums but two different styles (IT and IX). Could I send back the plugs(my cost), and have the IX iridiums sent? I can just use Paypal and take care of any price difference. I have a special request. I need a set for a mustang fox body. I'm mounting the coils just behind the fire wall/under the dash. And I would like to leave the coil side boot off so I can lace 4 wire through a black grommet on each side of the motor. In black, possibly with a set of TR6's.

What can you do for me on that??

We do custom wires as well as OEM sets. Only MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires and components. Dont be fooled by someone on ebay offering 10mm wires the 10 or 10.4mm is only a gimick. Its the insulation thickness and not the actual conductive wire. It does not provide more spark or power, it only hinders when trying to run through a tight space. Then is burns up when it touches something hot. In most cases and including the Taylor the inside wire that conducts is not as thick as the MSD. The MSD has superior conductivity.
Been there done that, thats why I sell what I sell. Only the best for a great price.

Well, I did manage to get the coils mounted and made new brakets out of all thread and spacers in between the coils. But it will be a day or two until I'm ready to set the motor in it. So I will hit you up then.

Also, I see you have these 90 degree boots that go on the spark plugs. I think that may be exactly what I need. On all except these back two plugs, the standard F-body wires will work for me. But on these back two I need to keep the wire off the back two primaries. I think that short 90 degree boot is exactly what I need so the wire doesn't come so far forward. Would you be able to do this?

2 90 degree boots sounds perfect. Now the real question is the exact length that those 2 custom wires need to be. They can't be too short obviously and if it's too long the wire is going to touch the primary and burn up. I'm thinking just incase the custom wires aren't the proper length, maybe you could ship me 8 of the standard LS1 wires in addition to the 2 custom ones. I've been told that the boots on those MSD wires can be bent and that I would be able to bend the boot on the spark plug so that the wire doesn't touch the weird primary there. I don't know if that's the case or not.

Got the wires yesterday, they look great . I'll let you know how they fit it a few weeks when I'm able to get back on it. Thanks..:D

do you have any pics of the coil relocation brackets? also i have a set of MSD wires that were on the car when i bought it a year ago and look pretty shotty, do wires ever go bad?

Wires can go bad if they have some kind of compromise to the insulation. Just being ugly and dirty doesnt hurt them. If you open the hood at without light around can you see any "arcing". If so replace them if not and your not throwing codes and it seems to be running fine dont worry about it.

You could check them with a multi meter as well if you wanted too. Pics of the relocation brackets are in the thread, I'll look for a link to lost one as well.

Heat range

The term spark plug heat range refers to the speed with which the plug can transfer heat from the combustion chamber to the engine head. Whether the plug is to be installed in a boat, lawnmower or racecar, it has been found the optimum combustion chamber temperature for gasoline engines is between 500°C–850°C. When it is within that range it is cool enough to avoid pre-ignition and plug tip overheating (which can cause engine damage), while still hot enough to burn off combustion deposits which cause fouling.

The spark plug can help maintain the optimum combustion chamber temperature. The primary method used to do this is by altering the internal length of the core nose, in addition, the alloy compositions in the electrodes can be changed. This means you may not be able to visually tell a difference between heat ranges. When a spark plug is referred to as a “cold plug”, it is one that transfers heat rapidly from the firing tip into the engine head, which keeps the firing tip cooler. A “hot plug” has a much slower rate of heat transfer, which keeps the firing tip hotter.

An unaltered engine will run within the optimum operating range straight from the manufacturer, but if you make modifications such as a turbo, supercharger, increase compression, timing changes, use of alternate racing fuels, or sustained use of nitrous oxide, these can alter the plug tip temperature and may necessitate a colder plug. A rule of thumb is, one heat range colder per modification or one heat range colder for every 75–100hp you increase. In identical spark plug types, the difference from one full heat range to the next is the ability to remove 70°C to 100°C from the combustion chamber.

This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) "choke". This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle. The outer sleeve that surrounds the conductor assembly is just as impressive. A proprietary blend of silicone and synthetic material produce a sleeve that is highly resistant to high heat as well as abrasion and tears.

Any clue how long it takes to get them? I ordered mine last sunday and I still haven't received them. I don't know if they shipped them to the wrong house or if they haven't shipped yet.

Should be there shortly, They usually ship within a day or two but I had injured my back and was very slow to getting them out for a couple weeks but am back to normal shipping times now. :)
