I'd definately avoid getting this one. Passed 3 police cars, and it didnt go off once. I returned it ASAP.

Just because you passed police officers, doesn't mean you passed active radar guns. The radar detector is just that - a radar detector. Its not a cop detector. If a cop isn't actively running radar, your detector won't go off.
Most people use Escorts or Valentine 1's. I have an Escort 8500 that works great, and they now have a 9500 which has GPS init so you can program it to not go off at certain locations.
