ok ive searched and searched to no avail.... About a month ago my starter went out so I went out , got a new one and installed it.... the problem is that the OLD one had a big chunk of the starter nose missing.... i know its stuck inside the damn housing with the flexplate.... I can hear it hitting and tinging away periodically.... How the f... do i get this out of there without having to pay an arm leg and kidney and have the tranny dropped... is it possible to get it out of there?... please any help will be greatly appreciated...

you could try to pull the starter and fish around with a pen magnent. Also I'm a M6 so i dont know but is there any type of plate or cover that comes off so you can get another angle on the magnent?

magnet wont work because its an aluminum casing on the starter

don't the A4s have a little cover on the bottom that you can take off?
