Pics of the OEM exhaust with Parts numbers from the mufflers. This was taken off my 2007 Monte Carlo SS back in June.

Actually I think these mufflers are from the far east... I forget where it's stamped but its says FUTABA on the mufflers....Last time I checked that was a japanese company that made remote controls for little R/C cars...so unless they delved into automotive mufflers or its a completely different company, Flowmaster definatly had nothing to do with the stock exhaust but I will give you one though, the MonteCarlo Nascar..behhh..... I think has Fowmasters on it, not sure if they are 40's, super 40's, etc.....

ok so everyone has heard the exhaust systems crackle when u rev the car and it has no resinator. if i put on a catless downpipe and different muffflers but keep the resinator, you think it will crackle at all when reved?

It probably wouldn't crackle much with that setup. I think the resonator has more control over the crackling then the cat does, but I could be wrong.

So, here's what I'm doing (It's listed in my sig) Kooks Aero Chambers and a 3" O/R downpipe. I know someone here has a similar setup, so could you tell me, how does this sound? Is it raspy at all? I know it sounds hollow (All LSx blocks do..) which I like, but what is key is whether or not it's raspy. Also; I've figured out how to get rid of that damn annoying exhaust change you get when it drops into 4cyl mode.. Drive around in 3rd.

Zero Rasp. It sounds like stock but much louder.

Taz...your wife let you bring that thing in the house and half-ass put it on a sheet on the carpet? What a woman! Although, it was relatively clean

Yes she did. Infact, she picked it up from the shop that installed the maganflow system and carried it up the 3 floors to our apartment at that time. It only had I believe 30 miles total on the system.

I LOVE HER...!!!!!

Paul, Ill post a vid of my system for you to listen to. ITs a hogan high flow cat downpipe, res removed and the magnaflow cat/back, here is the video. I tuned my car this one time so I could rev higher then stock. It will sound kinda bad at first but when you drive it, it sounds great:

it sounds good, but i will keep the resinator on so it doesnt crackle when i rev it. im debating over geting flowmaster 44s or the magnalfow cat back . but a catless downpipe is already for certain

Do you need to tune the ecm or will it work with the factory settings?

Sorry but I don't understand your question. Tune the ecm for an aftermarket cat-back? No you don't. Now if you install an aftermarket O/R DP you will throw a code without O2 simulators. Does that answer your question?

Why not the 40's? I believe they're louder. I def had no rasp until I removed the resonator.

And as far as 3 inch piping goes, I know if you're not using forced induction, the 3 inch pipes will make you lose low end torque in trade for high end HP. Not a necessarily a bad thing off a launch since we're so incredibly torquey on the low end out of the box and get no traction as it is.
