Spec 2. But I've heard of it happening with others. Do a search, you'll find some people with similar complaints. The Spec Rep seems to be a good guy and pretty helpful though. So it's really your gamble.
Someone told me that Advance Auto Parts or Autozone clutches for our cars uses the LT4 pp and a junk disc is this true? Because if so I'll buy that clutch then get a really good disc like a SPEC 3+ or the Ram HD to save some coin.

It's true, the pressure plate is the same, but the price of the AutoZone kit varies from area to area. For me it was actually cheaper to just order the Ram Powergrip than to have to order the Autozone Kit and a good disk.

I know everybody is going to go all up in arms about what I'm getting ready to say and post, however, I have had both the Ram HD and the Spec 3 clutch one lasted 5k and the Spec about 8k give or take. I really got frustrated with the narrow choices and there was no way in hell I was going to pay a thousand bucks for a Mc'Cloud clutch and maybe go through the same thing over again.
So I started looking around and decided to go for something differant and found this Competition Stage 2 Clutch I have now and truth be told I will state it's better hands down than the Ram or the Spec.
The reasoning being 1) my buddy in Albuqerque has a 1000hp Supra with one of these clutches (stage 4 or 5 I think) 2) The company is a newer company and has a very friendly staff and support.
wow thats an expensive clutch for that price it better hold
Yeah expensive but it should hold anything I can throw at it I think its rated to 1200hp.. I will eventually be 700+ HP with some N2o.
I hear nothing but good things about the newer spec3+. I know they had some issues with the LSX crowd and maybe a few LTxs but since spec has fixed any issues.

How about some more info on it. Like who makes it? How much does it cost? Where can you get one? You know, the little stuff.
Okay here is the link as to where you can buy it btw just because it's not $600 (It's $269) doesn't mean it's cheaply made! The first link is to where you can buy and the second link is Competition's website.
Having run a stock (Autozone), SPEC 2+ and then purchase a RAM and ZOOM my nod went to the ZOOM HD.
Since all LT1 clutches use the valeo LT4 PP or clone of one it is the disc material/construction that varies from clutch companies. Some manufacturers "claim" a higher clamp force on their LT1 clutches...possible they use their own fingers that are bent at a greater angle...don't know and never got a straight answer from any company I did ask (ZOOM did say the LT1 unit is a stock LT4 PP)
While the SPEC 2+ did hold well it only lasted 2k miles. I found their customer service to be outstanding.
So I bought the RAM and ZOOM and compared them side by side. The ZOOM is Kevlar material on both sides of disc. The size of the springs in the hub, the solid hub plate and larger rivets to me say the ZOOM is built better.
Other than a China knock of (most auto part stores replacement clutch) I doubt you can go wrong with SPEC, RAM, Monster, CF, ZOOM

1st 2 pics=ZOOM, 2nd 2=RAM
That zoom disk is just an OEM hub and springs with a different friction material.

...ah no it is not. the center sprung section is not the same as a "stock" and the disc backing the Kevlar is mated to is a solid disc...not one that is held to the inner hub part by "fingers" (like the RAM and others)
I had stock, RAM, SPEC and ZOOM side by side to compare.

It is. If you look closley you can see the same holes in the same exact places. This is also directly off Zoom's site. I guess they changed the friction material part but they are obviously still using the OEM hub and springs designed for 280hp and a much less grippier friction material.
