The gaskets are comming in today and I really don't think I'm gonna be ready for friday, but I still might come up with my GTO on friday, not going to be in the tens but I'll be happy with maybe seeing a high 12s pass

Default finally!!!!!!

Well I finally got the car running about a week ago but I just came back from vacation. Upon taking the heads off I found that the number two cylinder had broken the gasket from the closest water jacket/bolt hole into the cylinder wall. Also, I found number 6 and 8 cylinders full of carbon, they looked as if they were barely firing! The motor now has ARP Pro Series Head Studs with custom cometic gaskets that I had made at .030 thickness and 4.075 bore. This brought my compression up to 13.92:1. I also made a custom set of moroso 11mm Ultra 40 Wires for it. What a difference!! I've been driving the car around town and put about 150 miles on it, it drives great and moves out like never before. Apparently there was something severly wrong with either the ignition system or the head gasket before. I also have a brand new set of 28x10x15 Hoosiers ready to go on the car. I will be heading to Lebanon Valley on saturday becuase of nationals up at NED this weekend. Updates soon and I am going to load up a street driving video too.

Default holy twisted launch

Went up friday and saturday with the new 28.5's out back and had the last issue I thought I would encounter. I launched the car easy off a 2000 rpm foot brake and pulled the left front wheel about 3 feet and the right front about a foot, it ran a 1.48 60' but it twisted really bad. The rest of my four muffler runs showed 10.76-10.80 runs at 126.5-128.8, however now becuase of the tire change I am crossing the line at 6800 with the converter unlocked. So basically the car is wayyy short on gear, but apparently it is fixed becuase I lost gear ratio due to the tires but it went its fastest ET and mph ever in less air than before (10.76 @ 128.8 in 800 ft DA w/ a 1.50 60' going easy trying not to break the windshield from the twist). I figured with peak power at 7400 and flat power to 77-7800 I need to cross at 7700, with the converter locked. So out go the 4.11's and in come the 4.56's for next weekend. Also to try and stop the twist, Drag bags; a BMR Xtreme Strut Tower Brace and maybe a BMR Xtreme rear sway bar is on the way. I will be back up the track next friday with some new results. Saturday I got a whopping one run in thanks to the great orginazation of NED that one run went 10.80 @ 125.6 becuase I pulled the mufflers off and screwed up the tune. Apparently I still have some work to do...but on a better note nothing broke this time!!!!

Was good to meet you on Friday, that thing runs like a bear. I think I'm going to start going up on Wednesdays because they really seem to have a tough time managing anything more than 100 cars.

Why dont you put a 275/60 or 325/50 drag radial on it and leave the gear in it?

Nice passes BTW.

You can rip rear bumpers off on either tire. They are a little harder to work with the window of traction being narrower. They are not as fool proof as slicks.

I'm all about fool proof lol.....I want to keep the slick on the car its nice for brackets, I'm just trying to figure out what to do with this gear situation I spent $2500 on this rear end from strange and now there trying to whack me on $1100 to swap from 4.10's to 4.56's with me doing the install.

Seems to me the easiest solution is a 275/60, 275/50 drag radial, done.

I run the same with my 325's as I do with a 28x10.5w slick.

I was told by my trans guy and Ed Wright not to lock my converter. Its hard on the trans and doesnt improve ET only MPH. I confirmed what they told me, they were right.
