Default 97 T/A with 138k for 4000, is it worth it?

Ive been actively pursuing a replacement T/A since I had to sell my '88 GTA a few years ago and have come across a nice bodied 97. its a cali car so its never seen snow, but has high mileage quoted at all highway. When I spoke to the guy on the phone he seemed confused or surprised when I asked if the optispark had been replaced or was in need or if there were any other mechanical issues. The only reply was a faulty power window motor on the drivers side. Overall for the price would it be worth it? how extensive would a LT1 to LS1 switch be in a 97 T/A?

ls1 cars are cheap now, just go buy one if that is what you want. That is not a bad price for the car.

yeah i know, i could get a 00 z28 for 2 grand more, but i can get this T/A right now. Based on the responses (really lack thereof) maybe Ls1 is the way to go straight from the beginning. I want a T/A more than just the LS1 power though if that makes any sense considering I had an awesome 88 T/A with a wimpy motor.

thats seems to about on par for what your average LT1 is going for these days.

However, its really hard to judge without pics. Is the body CLEAN? $4000 is a little bit on the low side, so im sure there are some minor commmon problems with it. How does it run? Etc. Etc. Etc.

ive seen the pics, its on autotrader. body is straight as an arrow, but like I say when asked he seemed iffy on the mechanical side. All that was said that was problematic was the power window motor on the drivers side. ill try to see if i can post up pics of it. I have a $600 beater to get around campus now and Id hate to drop 4k on another beater.
