Question X, H, Y pipes...Headers....Help!!!

Okay. So I've finally decided to down load the cash on some headers and exhaust. I already have a gmmg catback but that's it. So I guess here are my questions.

1. What is the performance difference between a 1 3/4 primary and a stepped header with a 1 3/4 to 1 7/8? With my mods (in sig) what would you suggest?

2. Should I just get a ory pipe?

3. What are the performance differences between a Y, X, and H pipe? Are the summit universal X, H kits any good?

4. Is having it dumped before the axle going to be too loud for DD use?

5. What will get ride of the annoying drone between 1800-2400 rpm?

If I get rid of the gmmg I was looking at getting the powersticks. Help inform me please! Post up all the videos and sound clips you can! There are so many choices I can't decide. The only thing I do know is that I am getting stainless steel headers. Thanks in advance guys!

1.) 1 3/4" is all you need with your mods.

2.) If you can pass inspection without a cat then yes an ORY is perfect.

3.) The Summit X-Pipe kits are awesome. Have one on my car. X-Pipes makes a little more power uptop over H-Pipe and H-Pipes make a little more torque down low atleast what the general consensus seems to be. X sounds more racey and H more deep. A single 3" Y into a 3" catback is not hindering you at all at your power level. Once you start doing heads/bigger cam then TD's may offer a few more hp.

4.) YES.

5.) Depends on muffler choice and/or use of cats.

I would not get rid of GMMG for anything. Once you put LT's on it you will see what I mean. Put on the LT's and the ORY and see what you think. You can always add cats or resonators if you want to quiet it down etc.

Your best bet is to buy a set of 1 3/4 inch longtubes with a 3 inch ORY and use the GMMG. Unless you're making big power stepped headers will just be a pain to make them fit perfectly. Since you have the GMMG I don't know why you'd consider a TD setup. A 3 inch catback setup can support up to 370 HP with zero loss. Since you're not there yet just get a good set of headers and a Y and call it a day.

Here's some vids of my old car with LT's, ORY w/ Cat, GMMG. They were taken years ago when cameras sucked but you get the idea:

If you go catted true duals, and dumped at the axle, it won't be loud at all.

I'm running LTs with a catted x pipe and bullet mufflers dumped before the axle and its pretty quiet, and no drone inside the car at cruising speeds.

question number 4 is opinion based, kinda like which cam is too big for street driving. it all depends on what you can tolerate. the only one who can tell you whats too much is you.

Well I just ordered my pacesetters. What else do you guys recommend? Should I get different bolts and gaskets? If so, which ones?

felpro gaskets with ARP bolts. and dont get rid of the GMMG, you will regret it. run an ORY for a bit, if you need to add cats. thunderbolt cats are 110 plus shipping for a pair.
