When the engine is still making more power before the shift than after the shift, you're not shifting too high.

In answer to the question about the 10-bolt/spool: Yes, stock 10-bolt (8.5" ring gear, not the smaller 10-bolts that F-bodys come with). Strange spool. No sense in tearing up a posi unit when all we want to do is go straight

I kinda figured it was. How do you like the spool? Ever street drive with it?
I have been thinking of swapping out my true trac for one.

I take it you have tried different shift points and where you are shifting now seems to be your best result?

I would imagine with that weight and those times he has tried tons of shift point and tire combinations before settling on what he is doing now...even though I too can't wrap my mind around the benefits of spinning a stock intake, 22x cam LT1 that high.

Not sure. It being the second outing and all is what makes me wonder. Thanks for trying to answer for him though.

To lend input to the shift point subject and understanding, it's not the shift point rpm per se that gets you, it's the drop to rpm. Our cars weigh alot and if you drop below your torque band and don't have a good run at the next trans gear ratio, you don't carry the momentum and it slows the car down. My car is very similar to Pat's (I did both chassis's) and also shift at the rpm Pat does. Pat gathers information nearly every run and knows what to do with it. I suspect/predict he may be headed for 11.0's real soon.

All the time. Treat wet roads like ice, don't play Joe Roadracer, and it's fine.

Maybe some day my Impala will grow balls and be like Pat's. Damn I'm hoping for low 11's on nitrous. I am adding QA1's to my mix but!

A very good example of a car set up right for the 1/4 mi. Not deminishing the AI top end, the 60' time, track conditions and DA being significant contributers to the ET.

B-body yanking the front end is stout ;-)

Impressive results, just goes to show what you can do with these cars! I don't care that they are heavier than an f-body, and anyone yanking tires in a b-body is my f-in hero!

Its prob easier to yank the tires in a B-body. Thats alot of weight transferring to the rear.

That 60ft is NOT good, once he gets it sorted out I bet he takes a tenth off that. My car has done a 1.537 short time, last time out my worst was 1.580.
The MPH says he will go faster yet. He used to run that ET a few MPH slower on a 150 shot of juice.

Notice how long rails are??? That is because they are using leverage to keep the nose down rather than weight. Why don't you look up the wheelbase difference f-body to b-body.

I lost track of that. but I don't think it worked out in his favor. I think there were a few issues that were tricky to sort out.
